Amylu Foods is projecting its retail footprint to reach 129,998 points of distribution by the end of 2026, a 48.5% increase from 87,547 in 2025, as dollar sales more than doubled year over year — up 107% through mid-July, according to SPINS Satori data covering total U.S. multi-outlet retailers. A significant expansion at Target, taking effect this September, is the primary driver of the distribution jump.
The Numbers
The Target rollout encompasses 11 products in refrigerated and frozen categories: eight existing Amylu items expanding their store counts and three new SKUs entering the retailer for the first time. The additions deepen a portfolio that spans chicken sausages, meatballs, and burgers across more than 50 flavors. Within the chicken sausage segment, Amylu holds the top spot for dollar growth and accounts for nearly half of the segment's total gains, per the same SPINS data. The brand also ranks first in dollar growth within refrigerated chicken breakfast sausage and second across the broader breakfast sausage and meats category.
Breakfast as a Growth Vector
Two of the three new Target launches address the breakfast and grab-and-go occasion specifically. Target will be the first retailer to stock Amylu's refrigerated Breakfast Time Patties. A second innovation, Maple Breakfast Bites, will debut in a new individually portioned refrigerated format designed for on-the-go consumption. The moves signal a deliberate effort to extend the brand's revenue opportunity beyond lunch and dinner dayparts, where it has historically been strongest.
"Consumers are rethinking where and how they incorporate protein throughout the day, creating opportunities well beyond traditional lunch and dinner occasions," said Ashlee Leo, VP of Marketing at Amylu Foods. "This expansion reflects where we see tremendous opportunity for Amylu as we continue to grow nationally."
Market Tailwinds
The expansion arrives as protein-forward, better-for-you positioning has become one of the fastest-growing narratives in the packaged-meat aisle. Cultural dialogue around satiety, protein sufficiency, and the growing adoption of GLP-1 medications has stoked demand for convenient, nutrient-dense options that do not compromise on flavor — a gap Amylu's fully cooked, all-natural chicken lineup is designed to fill. The brand uses no antibiotics, nitrates, or nitrites, attributes that have become table stakes for the premium natural meat segment.
For retailers and foodservice operators tracking the competitive landscape in refrigerated proteins, the Amylu trajectory underscores a broader consumer shift toward premium chicken alternatives over traditional pork-based breakfast meats. The Target partnership, one of the most visible mass-market validations the brand has received, could catalyze similar conversations with club and grocery chains as Amylu enters 2027 planning cycles. Category managers navigating the breakfast meat shelf reset season will likely scrutinize the brand's velocity data as a benchmark for chicken-based alternatives.
