Pittsburgh-based Boba POPS® is moving beyond its bartender-facing roots with Pop & Go™, a four-SKU ready-to-drink cocktail line that puts the brand's patented alcohol-filled popping boba inside the finished drink — not on top of it. The line launched into test markets in Wisconsin, Virginia, and Pennsylvania on August 18, with a national rollout planned for 2027.

The Product

Each Pop & Go™ unit is a 12 oz single-serve cup fitted with a collapsible straw and sealed lid, designed to replicate the boba-shop ritual of punching a wide straw through the top. The popping pearls remain shelf-stable inside the finished cocktail through a proprietary fill process that requires no refrigeration and produces no carbonation. The four launch flavors — Hard Strawberry Lemonade, Hard Blueberry Lemonade, Hard Peach Green Tea, and Hard Lychee Black Tea — are bottled at 8% ABV and carry an SRP of $19.99 per 4-pack. Each cup contains approximately 275 calories and 29.5 grams of sugar, positioning them broadly in line with premium flavored malt beverages and spirits-based RTDs at comparable alcohol levels.

RTD Market Context

The launch arrives as the RTD spirits and hard-cocktail segment continues to attract incremental shelf space from both specialty beverage alcohol retailers and mainstream grocery chains. Parent company Unifying Spirits already moves the core Boba POPS® popping-boba product — sold in 50 ml and 375 ml formats across eight flavor varieties — through more than 6,000 retail doors in 34 states, including ABC Fine Wine & Spirits, Kroger, and Albertsons. Pop & Go™ leverages that existing chain footprint while targeting a consumer who shops for complete, single-package cocktail solutions rather than cocktail ingredients. The format is a meaningful departure: the original Boba POPS® pearls were positioned as a customization tool for consumers and bartenders, while Pop & Go™ removes any assembly requirement entirely.

Harmon Rozycki, COO of Boba POPS®, framed the extension as a channel play as much as a product innovation. "With Pop & Go™, we're bringing that same interactive experience to the bev-alc space in a way that feels familiar, fun, and uniquely Boba POPS®," he said.

Manufacturing & Rollout

Unifying Spirits is opening a new Pittsburgh manufacturing facility later this year that will house dedicated cup-filling and sealing equipment engineered for the Pop & Go™ format — a capital commitment that signals the company's confidence in scaling the SKU to national volume. Ahead of that ramp, limited online pop-up drops will provide early access to consumers in shipping-eligible states. The test-market phase across three states is designed to generate velocity data and retailer sell-through metrics before a broader chain-wide pitch in 2027. For operators and beverage buyers tracking the RTD and premium cocktail category, the debut raises a practical question about shelf placement: Pop & Go™ straddles the boba-tea novelty set and the hard-seltzer/RTD aisle, and how retail chains choose to merchandise it will likely shape early trial rates. The cup-and-straw format also creates a distinct on-premise and convenience-channel opportunity that standard can or bottle RTDs do not easily replicate. Buyers evaluating the line for specialty beverage alcohol retail should note the higher-sugar nutritional profile relative to hard seltzers, which could affect placement alongside better-for-you RTD sets.
