Buldak has released an original song and music video titled "Crave the Burn," converting a Guinness World Records® milestone into a branded content play aimed squarely at the Gen Z and Gen Alpha consumers who have driven the Korean instant-noodle brand's global expansion since its 2012 launch.
The record itself was set on October 1, when 335 qualifying videos of people eating instant noodles were uploaded to TikTok within a single hour as part of a coordinated brand activation. That figure surpassed the previous record of 250 videos by 85 — a 34.0% increase — giving Buldak a measurable social-media credential it is now monetising through the music release.
The Content Strategy
Directed by Weston Allen with choreography by Brian Esperon, the bilingual English-Spanish music video incorporates footage from the record attempt itself, blending fan-generated content with professionally produced material. The approach reflects a broader industry pattern among packaged-food brands seeking to extend campaign life cycles beyond a single activation moment. Rather than allowing the record attempt to fade as a one-day news item, Buldak is using the music release to re-engage the same TikTok audience and sustain platform visibility.
For context, viral food challenges and social proof have become a primary customer-acquisition mechanism for the instant-noodle segment, particularly among younger demographics. Buldak's parent, Samyang Foods, has benefited materially from this dynamic: the brand's fire-noodle challenge sparked years of organic content creation across markets, helping establish Buldak as one of the most recognised names in the spicy-snacks and instant-noodle category.
Brand Positioning
"'Crave the Burn' and its music video are a way to celebrate our fans, who have played such an important role in making Buldak what it is today and will continue to shape our future," said Abbas Arslan, Vice President of Marketing at Buldak. The comment underscores a strategy that treats fan communities as both a marketing channel and a product-development signal — a model increasingly common among foodservice and packaged-goods brands courting younger consumers.
The music video is available on Buldak's YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram channels under the handle @buldak_global. The release arrives as Korean food culture continues to broaden its influence on global retail and foodservice menus, providing category tailwinds that brands such as Buldak have been positioned to capture. The instant-noodle segment overall has seen sustained volume growth in Western markets since the pandemic-era pantry-stocking period, with premium and flavour-forward offerings outpacing commodity SKUs on a revenue-per-unit basis.
