The Campaign
Bumble Bee Seafoods is activating a back-to-school influencer push centered on its Snackers line, enlisting TikTok recipe creator Courtney Cook to generate content around the single-serve, wild-caught tuna products. The campaign — anchored by a "Bee You" brand platform — targets the intersection of convenience, high-protein snacking, and the tinned-fish trend that has reshaped ambient seafood's positioning with younger consumers.
The Product
Bumble Bee Snackers are 3-ounce, ready-to-eat tuna cans available in flavored varieties — Lemon Pepper, Thai Chili, Sweet Heat, and Hickory Smoke — alongside a classic tuna option. The no-prep format, requiring no drain or utensils, is designed to capture share in the broader savory snacking and portable-protein category, competing with pouched tuna, jerky, and single-serve nut products at comparable or lower price points. The SKUs are distributed through grocery retailers nationwide and through Amazon.
Cook, a teacher and mother of four who has built a following on approachable, pantry-driven cooking content, is positioned to reach the meal-planning and family-foodservice audience that ambient canned seafood has historically targeted — while extending that message to the faster-growing on-the-go and post-workout occasion. "I've always believed the best recipes are the ones that celebrate your favorite ingredients and fit your real life," Cook said. "Tuna has always been a pantry staple for me, and Snackers make it even easier to enjoy."
Why It Matters
The partnership reflects a deliberate brand repositioning for the 125-year-old seafood company. Canned tuna has faced years of volume pressure as younger shoppers deprioritized the category, but the rise of tinned fish — driven by social media and premium European sardine and anchovy products — has reopened headroom for shelf-stable seafood. Bumble Bee is attempting to convert that broader cultural interest into incremental volume for a mass-market, value-priced format.
Dana Kowal, Senior Director of Marketing and Corporate Affairs at Bumble Bee Seafoods, framed the Snackers line as a direct response to on-the-go consumption occasions. "We created Bumble Bee Snackers for today's on-the-go consumers who want bold flavors, quality protein and convenience," Kowal said. "Courtney perfectly brings that philosophy to life because it reflects the way she cooks — accessibly, creatively and with real people in mind."
For foodservice and retail buyers, the launch signals Bumble Bee's intent to defend and expand ambient seafood shelf placement by associating the category with snacking occasions rather than traditional meal occasions alone. The creator-led strategy also aligns with how grocery brands in the protein snack segment — from jerky to hard-boiled eggs — have driven trial costs efficiently through social content rather than traditional trade promotion. Food & Beverage Magazine has tracked rising consumer interest in high-protein convenience formats as a durable post-pandemic shift in grocery purchasing.
Bumble Bee markets products in the U.S., Canada, and more than 50 international markets under brands including Bumble Bee, Brunswick, Clover Leaf, Snow's, and Beach Cliff. The Snackers campaign also dovetails with wider consumer-trend shifts toward portable protein and the ambient seafood category's recovery following several years of market-share erosion.
