The Launch

Carolans Irish Cream is adding two flavored expressions to its portfolio this month — Strawberries & Cream and Chocolate Cream — both priced at $17.99 for a 750 mL bottle and bottled at 17% ABV. The extensions, available in 50 mL and 750 mL formats, represent the brand's first new permanent flavor additions since its Salted Caramel variant earned the SIP Awards' Consumer's Choice recognition in 2025.

The Products

Both new SKUs are built on the brand's core formula of Irish whiskey, farm fresh cream and natural honey. Carolans Strawberries & Cream delivers what the company describes as a fruit-forward profile combining ripe strawberry sweetness with creamy notes. Carolans Chocolate Cream layers milk chocolate truffle with toffee and coffee characters for a dessert-leaning finish. The extensions bring the Carolans lineup to four permanent expressions, joining Original Irish Cream and Salted Caramel. Notably, both new expressions earned Bronze medals at the 2026 International Spirits Challenge — the same competition in which Carolans Original Irish Cream took Gold — lending the launches early third-party validation ahead of shelf placement.

Why It Matters

The timing positions Heaven Hill Brands to capitalize on two intersecting consumer trends in the on- and off-premise channels. The "dirty soda" format — carbonated soft drinks elevated with flavored cream liqueurs or syrups — has gained measurable traction among younger legal-drinking-age consumers, particularly in casual-dining and convenience settings. Carolans Strawberries & Cream is explicitly positioned for that occasion, with a recommended serve of two ounces over ice topped with soda. Carolans Chocolate Cream, meanwhile, targets the espresso martini wave that has reshaped the cocktail liqueur shelf: a Chocolate Cream Espresso Martini is among the featured serves in the brand's launch campaign.

For off-premise retailers and foodservice operators, the $17.99 price point keeps both extensions squarely in the accessible Irish cream tier — below Baileys Irish Cream's typical retail positioning — while the dual-SKU drop gives buyers a reason to refresh category shelf sets before the holiday selling season. The Irish cream and cream liqueur sub-segment historically over-indexes in Q4, making a September launch strategically sound for building trial ahead of peak demand. Distributors carrying the Heaven Hill portfolio will find the new expressions a natural complement to existing placements of Carolans Original and the brand's growing flavored spirits segment, where innovation has consistently outpaced volume growth in the broader spirits category.

Aaron Wilke, AVP at Heaven Hill Brands, framed the launch around versatility rather than novelty: "Whether poured over ice, added to coffee, mixed into a cocktail or enjoyed in a playful new serve, Strawberries & Cream and Chocolate Cream bring the familiar smoothness people love from Carolans to flavors that are instantly inviting."

The trade should also note the brand's broader premiumization play — competing not only on flavor but on awards credibility and occasion-specific marketing — as cream liqueurs increasingly position against RTD dessert cocktails for share of the indulgent-occasion purchase.
