The New Lineup

Chick-fil-A, the third-largest quick-service restaurant company in the United States by system sales, will roll out three limited-time menu items nationally on August 24, capitalizing on a sweet-savory format that has gained sustained traction across the QSR segment. The fall drop — Chicken & Waffles Sandwiches in two daypart sizes plus S'mores Milkshake and S'mores Frosted Coffee — extends the chain's yearlong "Newstalgia" platform, which has already yielded permanent additions such as Frosted Sodas and Floats and a collectible Classic Cups program.

Daypart Strategy

The Chicken & Waffles Sandwich is structured to generate incremental cover counts across the full operating day, a strategic priority for chains navigating softening lunch traffic. A smaller-format breakfast version is available from opening until 10:30 a.m.; a larger entrée build runs from 10:30 a.m. to close. Both iterations feature maple-flavored waffles, a signature Chick-fil-A filet, three strips of applewood smoked bacon and honey butter spread, served with a side of classic syrup. Guests may specify Original, Spicy or Grilled filet, a customization layer that operators have found effective at driving repeat visits. The sandwich previously ran as a limited regional test in 2025, giving the chain demand-signal data before committing to a national launch — a rollout sequencing approach increasingly common among top-50 QSR operators managing commodity and labor costs.

Beverage Attach Rates

The two S'mores beverages are designed to lift beverage attach rates and average check, areas where Chick-fil-A has historically outperformed QSR peers. The S'mores Milkshake blends the brand's signature Icedream dessert with chocolate shortbread, graham cracker crumbles and marshmallow-flavored syrup and whipped topping. The S'mores Frosted Coffee layers cold-brewed coffee with marshmallow-flavored syrup into the same Icedream base, targeting the afternoon pick-up occasion that has become a battleground for fast-food chains competing against specialty coffee operators. Nostalgia-coded LTOs have demonstrated outsized social engagement metrics across the QSR category, which partly explains the strategic logic behind anchoring the fall calendar to a campfire-classic flavor profile.

Industry Context

The launch arrives as limited-time offerings continue to serve as the primary traffic driver for major QSR brands facing a cautious consumer spending environment. Operators across the segment have leaned into familiar, comfort-adjacent flavor profiles — notably breakfast crossovers and nostalgic confections — to justify modest price increases without eroding perceived value. Chick-fil-A, which operates more than 3,000 locations across the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, the United Kingdom and Singapore and employs more than 200,000 team members through its owner-operator franchise model, is privately held and does not disclose unit-level economics or system-wide revenue figures publicly.

"Both Chicken & Waffles and S'mores are much-loved classics, and we challenged ourselves to bring those flavors to our menu in a playful and unexpected way," said Allison Duncan, director of menu and packaging for Chick-fil-A. "After seeing the incredible response and excitement from Guests in our test markets, we couldn't wait to share these flavors nationwide." The company's 80th anniversary milestone in 2026 provides a brand-equity frame for the Newstalgia campaign, which has sequenced LTOs, packaging refreshes and merchandise drops throughout the year.
