The Expansion Move

Chicken Salad Chick is opening a new fast casual unit in Kyle, Texas, on August 19, its second launch under franchisee OberRoc LLC within roughly two months and the brand's latest step in a deliberate push across the state. The location, situated at 19037 I-35 in the Amberwood Retail Center, includes a drive-thru and marks the Kyle market's first Chicken Salad Chick unit.

The Franchise Group

OberRoc LLC — the partnership of James Oberg, Jeff Rochelle, George Shaw, and Rosemarie Acerra — now operates six Chicken Salad Chick restaurants across greater San Antonio and its outer markets, including New Braunfels, Stone Oak, Roadrunner, Westover Hills, Boerne, and the new Kyle unit. Boerne opened in early June 2026. Kyle represents the group's first restaurant outside the San Antonio metro, extending its footprint roughly 80 miles north into the Austin suburban corridor, one of the fastest-growing population corridors in the U.S. The group has additional development commitments in the San Antonio area slated for future years.

"The Kyle opening follows the group's recent and successful debut in Boerne, and they have ambitious development plans ahead," said Scott Deviney, CEO and president of Chicken Salad Chick. "Texas remains a key growth state for us, so we're excited to see their continued growth and impact throughout the state."

System Context

Chicken Salad Chick operates more than 340 restaurants across 25 states, with its footprint expanding through a franchise-led model that has drawn recurring recognition from trade and consumer outlets including QSR, Fast Casual, and Technomic. Texas has emerged as one of the brand's priority development markets, benefiting from population growth and strong suburban retail corridor activity — dynamics that fast casual operators across the restaurant sector have leaned into as urban markets face higher occupancy costs.

The Kyle unit's service model covers dine-in, drive-thru, takeout, third-party delivery, and catering — a full-channel build-out that reflects the operational standard franchisees are increasingly expected to deploy at new locations. The brand's menu centers on more than a dozen made-from-scratch chicken salad flavors, alongside fresh sides, gourmet soups, sandwiches, and desserts.

Pre-opening activity will include a Friends & Family fundraiser benefiting CHRISTUS Children's Hospital in San Antonio. The CSC Foundation, the brand's philanthropic arm, supports CURE Childhood Cancer and local food banks through year-round fundraising initiatives. Hours at the Kyle location are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
