Chili's Grill & Bar (NYSE: EAT) is pushing its two-year brand resurgence into retail territory, debuting the 'Suburban Collection' — a branded merchandise line priced from $3 to $60 — on Sept. 30 at WelcomeToChilis.com. My Chili's loyalty members received early-access codes by email ahead of the general launch.

The Product Range

The eight-category lineup spans apparel and accessories, anchored by a $60 Chenille Pepper Hoodie and a $55 Cropped Cheese Pull Quarter Zip — the latter designed so the wearer's arms resemble a mozzarella cheese pull, a visual reference to the chain's Triple Dipper platform. Additional items include $50 Vintage Rugby Shirts, $35 Varsity Jerseys, $30 Suburban Tees in both oversized and cropped fits, two hat styles at $30 each, and accessories ranging from $3 to $30. The accessories tier includes a 14k gold-plated "Margs" necklace, a Baby Backs necklace, bumper stickers, a ribs-jingle keychain and branded stickers.

Brand Strategy Context

The merchandise push is the latest move in a deliberate brand-equity campaign at Chili's, the flagship concept of Dallas-based Brinker International. The casual dining operator runs 1,600 restaurants across 29 countries and two territories with more than 70,000 employees. Chili's was named Ad Age Brand of the Year in both 2025 and 2026, recognition that reflects a broader turnaround effort encompassing menu upgrades, service investment and restaurant atmosphere improvements. The chain also won a 2025 MenuMasters Award for Best New Menu Item for Nashville Hot Mozz, a Triple Dipper addition that generated significant social media traction — the same item whose cheese-pull visual now anchors the collection's hero pieces.

Jesse Johnson, vice president of marketing at Chili's, framed the launch around a shift in consumer fashion preferences. "Streetwear has dominated mainstream fashion for years, but now we're starting to see suburban wear have its moment as more consumers are drawn to relaxed, comfort-first fits," Johnson said. "For decades, Chili's has shaped suburban culture with our come-as-you-are relaxed atmosphere, so who better to celebrate suburban style with our new merch collection."

Loyalty and Incremental Revenue

Branded merchandise has emerged as a meaningful ancillary revenue and brand-impression channel for casual dining operators navigating flat same-store traffic trends. By gating early access behind the My Chili's loyalty program, Brinker gains a direct data signal on which member segments skew toward lifestyle brand engagement — intelligence that can inform targeted promotional spend. The price architecture, ranging from a $3 sticker to a $60 hoodie, is designed to convert across multiple fan cohorts, from occasional diners to self-described "Chiliheads."

For trade observers, the collection also reflects a broader casual-dining playbook of leveraging cultural cachet built through social platforms into physical product. Chili's Triple Dipper and its Baby Back Ribs jingle have accumulated organic reach on TikTok and other platforms; the merchandise line attempts to convert that attention into a margin-positive product category outside the four walls.
