Food-Tech Trade Fair Draws International Buyers to Parma Cibus Tec 2026 opened October 27 in Parma, Italy, positioning the city as a hub for food processing technology and innovation. The four-day event runs through October 30 and brings together 1,300 companies and brands from more than 35 countries, with approximately 40,000 industry professionals expected to attend. International exhibitors account for roughly 30 percent of total participation, with strong representation from Germany, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, China, and the United States. Within Italy, Emilia-Romagna and Lombardy lead regional participation, followed by Veneto, Piedmont, Campania, Tuscany, and Lazio.

Top Buyer Program Targets 3,000 International Purchasers The exhibition's Top Buyer Program is structured to bring more than 3,000 international top buyers from over 90 countries, including representatives from the Americas, Asia-Pacific, the Caucasus, Europe, MENA, and Turkey. Of these, 300 will arrive from 58 countries through collaboration with the ICE Agency. Africa represents a particular focus this year, with more than 300 qualified buyers expected from 20 countries. That growth reflects "Cibus Tec for Africa," a year-round initiative promoting Italian technologies in Sub-Saharan markets through missions, B2B meetings, and company visits. More than 10,000 B2B meetings have been pre-scheduled, demonstrating the event's ability to foster targeted business relationships between international buyers and exhibiting companies.

450 New Products Emphasize Efficiency and Sustainability Exhibitors are presenting more than 450 technological innovations, with a clear industry trend emerging: innovation focuses on improving production process efficiency, enhancing plant performance, reducing energy consumption, and optimizing resource use. These solutions span the entire supply chain, from processing to packaging. The exhibition covers leading food and beverage sectors—dairy, beverages, bakery, pasta, confectionery, wine, and alternative proteins—with technology offerings addressing automation, quality control, food safety, and plant efficiency.

World Pasta Day Co-Located at Cibus Tec For the first time, World Pasta Day (October 27–28) takes place within Cibus Tec, promoted by Unione Italiana Food and the International Pasta Organisation. The event brings together more than 150 participants, including pasta manufacturers, technology partners, associations, institutions, retailers, and specialized media, to discuss market developments, sustainability, biodiversity, and innovation. Platinum sponsors for World Pasta Day include Barilla Group, Bühler, Emka Makine, Fava, and GEA Extruded Food Technologies. Margherita Mastromauro, President of the Pasta Makers' Association of Unione Italiana Food, stated: "The World Pasta Day celebrations in Parma and as part of Cibus Tec represent a milestone for our supply chain and for Italy's agri-food Made in Italy, creating for the first time a direct bridge between product excellence, gastronomic tradition and the advanced industrial technology that makes it possible." Carl Zuanelli, President of IPO, added: "An extraordinary week is taking place here in Parma, the beating heart and timeless temple of Italian taste. For the first time, World Pasta Day has found its home here, celebrating pasta, a food in which the wisdom of the land meets human ingenuity."

Sector-Specific Programs and Live Demonstrations Cibus Tec 2026 introduces sector-focused initiatives: "Beverage?

Yes, We Tec!" features an entire pavilion of beverage technologies; "Bakery? Yes, We Tec!" presents integrated industrial solutions for baking and bakery products; and "Wine? Yes, We Tec!"—a debut partnership with Federvini—dedicates Hall 3 to wine supply-chain technologies. A wine sustainability workshop scheduled for October 29 will explore regulatory developments, investments, and technological solutions supporting the sector's transition. Gabriele Castelli, Director of Federvini, noted: "Today, increasingly, in response to ongoing climate change and growing environmental awareness among consumers, companies are looking to new technologies and the new tools made available by institutions to address the challenges of improving efficiency and reducing the use of increasingly scarce production inputs, such as water." The Demo Factory, a signature Cibus Tec program since 2011, will present two new fully operational production lines dedicated to seafood and dairy, demonstrating integration of processing, packaging, automation, and quality control.

Investment in Workforce Development and Startups The Talent Academy, developed with Cisita Parma, convenes schools, training institutions, and food-technology companies to explore skills required by industry and the workplace. The Food Future Challenge involves nearly 200 students from seven upper secondary schools in Parma and surrounding provinces, developing projects on food processing, packaging, and beverages. A Startup Area showcases promising startups selected in collaboration with Le Village by Crédit Agricole, bringing new technologies, solutions, and business models to the exhibition.

Co-Located Laboratory Technology Event Labotec, the second edition of an event focused on laboratory analysis and innovation technologies, runs October 27–28 in Hall 8, complementing Cibus Tec with focus on quality control and food-safety testing solutions. Franco Mosconi, President of Fiere di Parma, said: "Cibus Tec has progressively built a platform that increasingly connects industry, technology and markets, supporting the evolution of the entire supply chain. Today, this journey finds its meeting point in Parma, a region where food culture, manufacturing expertise and technological innovation are deeply interconnected." Thomas Rosolia, President of Koelnmesse Italia and Koeln Parma Exhibitions, highlighted: "This edition records significant figures in terms of international participation, both among exhibitors and visitors. This result is supported by our collaboration with Koelnmesse and its global network, which includes all the international trade fairs dedicated to food and beverage technology within the Anuga FoodTec Family portfolio."

Why It Matters

For operators and technology buyers, Cibus Tec represents a consolidated sourcing opportunity for machinery, automation, and compliance solutions across multiple food and beverage segments. The event's structured Top Buyer Program and pre-scheduled B2B meetings reduce sourcing friction, while the live Demo Factory and sector-specific pavilions allow direct assessment of production-line integration and energy-efficiency claims—critical for capital-expenditure decisions.
