De'Longhi is putting a $999.95 price tag on its new Magnifica Duo fully automatic coffee machine and backing the launch with a global advertising campaign starring actor Brad Pitt and directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Spike Jonze — a pairing the Italian appliance group is framing as a direct play for share in the fast-growing premium at-home espresso market.

The Machine

The Magnifica Duo is engineered around what De'Longhi calls a "hot or cold" proposition: 20 preset recipes spanning hot espresso and milk-based drinks through cold brew and iced lattes, all accessible via a single touchpoint. The machine incorporates the brand's LatteCrema™ Hot & Cool Technologies alongside dedicated brewing modes for espresso, drip coffee and cold brew — a specification set designed to reduce the need for multiple countertop appliances. The unit is available now at DeLonghi.com and select retail partners nationwide.

The Campaign

The creative work, titled "Hot or Cold, Always Perfetto," was developed by LOLAMadrid as part of an ongoing agency-client partnership and will run across broadcast, digital and social channels beginning this month. Jonze's spot places Pitt in a chaotic shared-living scenario — 16 roommates, compounding morning demands — as a narrative vehicle for the machine's core benefit: a reliable moment of personal coffee ritual amid disorder.

Aparna Sundaresh, Global Chief Marketing Officer at the De'Longhi Group, described the campaign's dual focus as deliberate. "Our Duo range is designed to serve up your perfetto, your way — hot or cold, through every season and every mood," she said, adding that the Pitt-Jonze pairing was chosen to communicate "the wins and misses, the hot and cold that swings into every moment."

The campaign will be extended through a Perfetto Barista influencer activation featuring two content creators who visited the film set and will produce original content demonstrating the machine's hot-cold duality across their own channels.

Market Context

The launch lands as the fully automatic espresso machine category continues to attract premium positioning. De'Longhi, which is part of a group that also includes La Marzocco and commercial specialist Eversys, holds the number-one global ranking in both the automatic espresso maker and espresso machine maker segments according to GfK sales data. The company operates in more than 120 countries and has built much of its retail narrative around replicating café-quality output in the home — a trend that accelerated during the pandemic period and has since stabilised at elevated penetration levels compared with pre-2020 baselines.

For foodservice equipment suppliers and specialty coffee retailers, the Magnifica Duo's cold brew integration is a notable signal: consumer demand for ready-at-home cold coffee formats, long a growth driver in ready-to-drink beverages, is now being addressed directly at the high end of the bean-to-cup appliance market. That convergence has implications for premium coffee retail and roaster partnerships, where machine compatibility and recipe ecosystems increasingly influence purchasing decisions.
