The Appointment
Diversified Foodservice Supply has named Chris Cassidy as its Chief Operating Officer, the company announced Oct. 22, adding an executive whose résumé spans global logistics at GSK and UPS, two CEO tenures, and supply chain software to its senior leadership team. Cassidy steps into a newly defined operational mandate at DFS, a distributor of commercial kitchen equipment, replacement parts, and supplies serving operators, service agencies, dealers, and institutions through brands including AllPoints, TundraFMP, KNG, and Espresso Parts.
Background and Track Record
Cassidy spent more than a decade directing international logistics operations at pharmaceutical giant GSK before moving to UPS, where he led global healthcare logistics strategy. He subsequently served as Chief Revenue Officer at Trax Technologies, then as CEO of Mojix — a supply chain software firm he guided through its merger with Seagull Software — before most recently holding the President and CEO role at ConData, a global freight audit and analytics company. That combination of asset-heavy logistics management and technology-led supply chain optimization is increasingly sought-after in foodservice distribution, where operators are pressing distributors to improve parts availability, order accuracy, and delivery speed.
Scope and Priorities
In the COO role, Cassidy will have oversight of DFS's distribution network, customer service, project management office, human resources, and marketing operations. Chief Executive Officer Lev Peker cited Cassidy's global logistics depth as central to the company's ability to "strengthen our distribution capabilities and improve service for our customers." Cassidy framed his own priorities around connecting operational systems to front-line customer outcomes. "Processes and systems are vital to operational excellence, but their primary purpose is to empower people and deliver tangible value to the customer," he said.
The appointment arrives as foodservice distributors across the supply chain face persistent pressure to compress lead times and reduce parts backorders — pain points that have grown more acute as commercial kitchen equipment ages and operator maintenance costs rise. DFS's portfolio of specialty brands positions it as a parts-and-supplies specialist rather than a broad-line broadliner, a niche that demands high SKU availability and strong logistics execution. Adding a COO with direct experience scaling freight-audit and supply chain software platforms signals an intent to invest in the operational infrastructure behind that model.
Cassidy holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology and an Executive Certificate in supply chain management from MIT. His appointment follows a pattern visible across foodservice distribution and commercial kitchen equipment sectors, where companies are elevating operations-focused executives to translate post-pandemic distribution investments into measurable service improvements.
