Eco-Products, the Boulder, Colorado-based sustainable foodservice supplier, on Tuesday unveiled a new beverage cup portfolio spanning compostable, recyclable and reusable formats — a simultaneous three-track launch the company says gives operators broader flexibility to meet waste-reduction commitments without switching between vendors.
The lineup centers on three distinct product families. Redesigned World Art™ hot cups are now manufactured with FSC®-certified paperboard, aligning the product with chain-of-custody forestry standards increasingly required by large institutional buyers and university dining operators. A new aluminum cold cup line is produced with 90% recycled content, positioning it within the growing segment of infinitely recyclable beverage serviceware that has drawn interest from quick-service and fast-casual chains under pressure from municipal single-use plastics legislation. The Veda™ reusable drinkware line also receives additional SKUs, extending the company's play in deposit-and-return programs that have gained regulatory traction in several U.S. states and the European Union.
The announcement arrives as foodservice packaging suppliers face mounting commercial pressure from both the regulatory and procurement sides. At least 14 U.S. states have enacted or proposed restrictions on expanded polystyrene or non-recyclable single-use plastics since 2023, and major food-and-beverage chains — from coffee specialists to casual dining groups — have publicly committed to compostable or reusable packaging targets by 2030. Suppliers that can offer certified sustainable alternatives across multiple temperature and service formats are increasingly favored in group-purchasing-organization contract cycles, according to sector analysts covering the sustainable packaging space.
Aluminum's role in the cold-cup segment has expanded notably. The metal's near-infinite recyclability and the industry's established collection infrastructure give it a measurable end-of-life advantage over plastic-lined paperboard in markets where industrial composting facilities remain limited. Eco-Products' 90% recycled-content specification for the new cold cup places it above the industry average for post-consumer recycled aluminum content in foodservice applications, though the company did not disclose unit pricing or projected sales volumes at launch.
The Veda™ expansion underscores a broader industry pivot toward reuse-as-a-service models. Several quick-service operators have piloted reusable cup programs in partnership with third-party logistics providers, and a dedicated reusable product line gives Eco-Products a commercial foothold in that channel alongside its core disposable business. The company, a subsidiary of Novatek International, distributes through a network of foodservice distributors across North America.
