The Campaign
Electrolit, the rapid-hydration beverage brand founded in Mexico in 1950, is rolling out a winter-season retail campaign across seven major U.S. chains, activating in-store point-of-purchase displays at 7-Eleven, Circle K, Albertsons, Kroger, Walmart, H-E-B and additional retailers through early January 2027. The effort, branded Holiday Hydration™, marks the brand's first sustained push to capture cold-weather consumer occasions — a segment of the sports and functional beverage market that has historically skewed toward warmer months.
Professional freestyle skier Janelle Yip fronts the campaign, lending the activation an authentic winter-sports credential. Yip's involvement is designed to extend Electrolit's existing athlete-marketing playbook — which has anchored the brand in fitness and active-lifestyle positioning — into snow sports, a category that SnowSports Industries America data indicates continues to draw broad participation across the U.S. "As a professional skier, the snowy months are a huge part of my life, and staying hydrated is something I prioritize wherever the season takes me," Yip said.
Retail & Promotional Mechanics
The campaign's retail backbone is a network of in-store displays timed to the holiday shopping window, when foot traffic at convenience and mass-market channels peaks. Pairing those placements with a consumer sweepstakes — ten The North Face gift cards valued at $1,000 each, plus Electrolit-branded winter gear — gives the brand a secondary earned-media lever beyond paid shelf space. No purchase is required to enter the sweepstakes; full eligibility rules and an open date had not been announced as of the campaign launch.
The channel mix is telling. Convenience retail accounts such as 7-Eleven and Circle K give Electrolit immediate access to on-the-go shoppers, while grocery anchors Albertsons, Kroger and H-E-B extend reach into planned basket purchases. That dual-channel coverage mirrors the broader strategy premium hydration brands have used to defend shelf position against an increasingly crowded functional-beverage set that includes legacy sports drinks and a growing roster of electrolyte-enhanced waters.
Market Context
The functional and rapid-hydration segment has posted consistent volume growth over the past three years, driven by consumers who have extended sports-drink consumption beyond the gym into everyday and travel occasions. Electrolit, formulated with magnesium, potassium, calcium, sodium, chloride, sodium lactate and glucose, has positioned itself at the premium end of that spectrum. A winter retail campaign allows the brand to argue that hydration need is not seasonal — a message with direct relevance to operators and buyers who set planogram resets in January.
For retailers, the campaign offers a branded activation during a period when beverage category managers are under pressure to maintain sales velocity as cold weather depresses impulse purchases of chilled drinks. Point-of-purchase displays at this time of year can serve as a demand-creation tool rather than simply a shelf-awareness driver. The run through early January also captures the post-holiday wellness reset, a period when sports and hydration beverages historically see a lift tied to New Year fitness resolutions.
The Holiday Hydration campaign supplements Electrolit's year-round distribution through grocery, convenience, national retail and online channels. Timing and promotional offers vary by retailer.
