Competition Draws Retail Buyers and Influencers

Celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis appeared at this year's Sweets & Snacks Expo in Las Vegas as judge and competitor in Loacker USA's "Great Wafer Bake-Off Showdown," a live booth activation that engaged retail buyers, brokers, influencers, and attendees.

De Laurentiis teamed with content creator Justine Doiron to lead competing teams in creating original wafer-inspired desserts using Loacker products on the show floor. De Laurentiis's team won the competition with a layered triple-decker trifle dessert, claiming the Loacker championship belt.

Charity Component

Loacker donated $5,000 each to charities selected by both De Laurentiis and Doiron. De Laurentiis chose World Kitchen, while Doiron supported No Kid Hungry, bringing the total charitable contribution to $10,000.

Why It Matters

The activation underscores how confectionery and snack brands are leveraging celebrity partnerships and experiential booth activations at major trade shows to drive buyer engagement and generate social media buzz during a highly competitive selling season.
