The Launch
GORGIE is adding Candy Apple to its sparkling energy lineup, marking the brand's latest flavor expansion as it closes in on 15,000 retail doors nationwide by the end of summer 2026. The crisp green apple SKU — sweetened without aspartame, sucralose, or erythritol — is now live on the brand's direct-to-consumer site and rolling out to retail partners across the country.
The timing is deliberate. The better-for-you energy segment is compressing shelf space for legacy brands that rely on artificial sweeteners, and GORGIE is capitalizing on that shift. At one unnamed leading natural grocery chain, the brand now commands nearly 20% of the energy category, a figure it says is nearly triple its share from one year prior. Retail sales for the full brand are up 600% year over year, and the company added more than 40,000 new points of distribution in 2026 alone.
Market Position
Founder Michelle Cordeiro Grant framed the Candy Apple launch around both nostalgia and functional consistency. "We wanted to capture that nostalgic experience while staying true to the great taste, functional ingredients, and clean energy that GORGIE stands for," she said. Each can carries 150 milligrams of green tea-derived caffeine alongside L-Theanine, Biotin, and B Vitamins — a formulation the brand positions against mainstream energy drinks that still lean on synthetic stimulants and sweetener blends.
The Candy Apple SKU follows a staged rollout strategy the brand has employed before. Members of Club G, GORGIE's app-based loyalty community, received early access through a "First Sips" program ahead of the general retail release, seeding social content before the product reached wider distribution. That community-first approach has become a key acquisition lever for the brand, which targets wellness-oriented consumers who increasingly treat the energy drink category as an extension of their broader health routine.
Retail & Campaign Context
The product launch runs parallel to the rollout of GORGIE's "Energy for All" marketing campaign, which features strategic investors Jon Bon Jovi and Alix Earle across digital, social, and in-store channels. GORGIE currently holds the No. 1 independent energy drink brand position at Target, a placement that carries significant velocity data visibility for buyers at other major retailers evaluating the brand for expanded sets.
For food and beverage operators and retail buyers, the growth trajectory warrants attention. The independent better-for-you energy segment has historically been volatile at the SKU level, but GORGIE's distribution gains — and its disproportionate share at natural grocery — suggest sustained consumer pull rather than short-term promotional spikes. Whether Candy Apple, a flavor profile with broad seasonal associations, can perform year-round will be an early test of the brand's portfolio depth beyond its core citrus and tropical SKUs.
GORGIE was founded in 2022 and launched its first sparkling energy drinks in 2023. It is available through its own site, Amazon, and in-store at Target and thousands of other retail locations.
