The Moves
Gotham Greens, the Brooklyn-based greenhouse produce company, named Natalie Barber Halpern as its first Chief Commercial Officer and signed a national sales partnership with C.A. Fortune — moves the company framed as the commercial infrastructure required to sustain 18.0% year-over-year retail sales growth recorded across its full portfolio for the 52-week period ending August 29, 2026, according to Nielsen Total U.S. xAOC data.
Halpern arrives from Haleon, where she led the U.S. Advil business. Her earlier career spanned Centrum and Caltrate vitamins, Sensodyne and Parodontax oral-care brands, and consumer staples at The Clorox Company — covering Hidden Valley Ranch, Kingsford, Glad, and Clorox. She subsequently served at Nature's Variety, the manufacturer behind the Instinct premium pet nutrition line. At Gotham Greens, she will consolidate sales, marketing, and product innovation under a single commercial structure, a function the company had not previously unified under one executive.
Scale and Category Position
The company currently distributes through more than 6,500 retail locations, including Whole Foods Market, The Kroger Co., Sprouts Farmers Market, Albertsons, Publix, Target, and Amazon Fresh. Gotham Greens holds the number-one brand position in packaged basil and ranks as the fastest-growing greenhouse-grown salad kit label in the controlled-environment agriculture segment, both per the same Nielsen 52-week dataset. Its product range extends beyond leafy greens into salad kits, dressings, dips, and cooking sauces — categories that give the brand leverage across multiple ambient and refrigerated retail fixtures.
The Cyclospora outbreak referenced in the announcement — an episode that drew heightened consumer scrutiny of field-grown produce — has amplified interest in greenhouse supply chains, where environmental controls limit pathogen exposure. Gotham Greens operates a national network of hydroponic, climate-controlled facilities across nine states, a footprint that differentiates it from conventional fresh-cut competitors dependent on open-field sourcing. That food-safety narrative is increasingly central to retail buyer conversations, as covered in our recent analysis of controlled-environment agriculture's retail momentum.
What C.A. Fortune Adds
Under the new agreement, C.A. Fortune will assume responsibility for headquarter sales nationally, supported by its in-store field team and integrated digital commerce and insights capabilities. The agency model gives Gotham Greens immediate access to established buyer relationships across conventional and natural grocery channels without the lead time of building an equivalent in-house team. Tyler Lowell, Managing Partner and CEO of C.A. Fortune, cited reliable supply, differentiated consumer products, and in-store and e-commerce velocity as the three attributes that made the partnership viable.
Gotham Greens will use the Global Produce & Floral Show, scheduled October 15–16 in Orlando, to debut new salad kit innovations — a category that operators and produce buyers have flagged as a key driver of refrigerated section traffic. CEO Craig Stevenson, appointed earlier in 2026, characterized the combined hires as enabling the company to "expand distribution, drive velocity and household penetration, and deliver long-term profitable growth." For trade buyers evaluating fresh food suppliers, the C.A. Fortune alignment signals an intent to compete more aggressively for shelf space and promotional programs at the national account level — a dynamic worth watching across the fresh CPG and refrigerated produce segment.
