The Card's Structure

Harris Teeter, the Kroger-owned supermarket chain operating more than 250 stores across eight states and the District of Columbia, has launched the Harris Teeter Rewards World Elite Mastercard®, a co-branded credit card designed to deepen loyalty spending and accelerate points accumulation across grocery, fuel, and everyday categories. The card carries no annual fee and no spending caps, positioning it as a direct play for wallet share among the chain's existing loyalty base.

The tiered earning structure anchors highest rewards to Harris Teeter's own digital channels: cardholders earn up to 5X points on purchases made through the Harris Teeter website and app, 4X points at participating Harris Teeter fuel pumps, and up to 3X points on in-store purchases. Outside the banner, the card awards 2X points on dining, utilities, and travel, and 1X points on all other eligible Mastercard transactions. Points link automatically to existing loyalty accounts and do not expire while the account remains active and in good standing.

Welcome Offer and Membership

New cardholders who spend $750 outside Harris Teeter and Kroger channels within 90 days of account opening qualify for a $100 welcome bonus redeemable toward eligible grocery purchases. An annual $10 birthday reward supplements the ongoing earning structure. All cardholders also receive a complimentary HT Plus membership — Harris Teeter's subscription tier — which provides exclusive savings and free next-day delivery on qualifying orders of $35 or more.

The card is issued by First Bank & Trust under a Mastercard license and operated by Imprint, the New York-based co-branded payments and loyalty platform that also powers programs for Shell and Kroger. Imprint's technology enables customers to apply for and manage the card entirely within the Harris Teeter app, consolidating earn, tracking, and redemption in a single interface. The company counts more than two million members across its partner programs nationwide.

Loyalty as a Retail Battleground

The launch reflects a broader push by grocery retailers to convert transactional shoppers into high-frequency, high-margin loyalty members through financial products that reward channel-specific behavior. By awarding the highest multiplier to digital orders, Harris Teeter explicitly incentivizes migration toward its e-commerce platform — a strategic priority across the Kroger family as click-and-collect and delivery volumes continue to grow. The fuel reward tier, tied to Harris Teeter's 85 fuel centers, similarly attempts to capture spend that might otherwise flow to standalone gas station loyalty programs.

"Our new credit card builds on that commitment by giving customers more ways to earn meaningful rewards on everyday purchases, with the flexibility to save on groceries, fuel or both," said Danna Robinson, director of corporate affairs and customer relations for Harris Teeter.

For grocery operators, co-branded credit cards represent a dual revenue lever: interchange income flows back to the program while deeper loyalty data informs personalization and promotional targeting. Harris Teeter's move follows a pattern seen across the grocery retail sector, where banners from Albertsons to regional independents have expanded financial-product offerings in tandem with upgraded digital platforms. The Imprint partnership also signals growing demand for fintech infrastructure built specifically for retail food and beverage operators, rather than adapted from general-purpose card programs.
