Food processors seeking greater high-pressure processing capacity without expanding their facilities now have a new benchmark to measure against. Hiperbaric, the Spain-headquartered HPP equipment manufacturer, will unveil the Hiperbaric 525 (H525) configured with 12 intensifiers at PACK EXPO International 2026, running October 18–21 at McCormick Place in Chicago. The company bills the setup as the highest-throughput configuration ever offered on its 525-gallon vessel platform.
The Numbers
The 12-intensifier H525 achieves up to 10.7 cycles per hour on a 525-gallon (150-liter) vessel operating at 6,000 bar (87,000 psi) with a three-minute holding time — a performance Hiperbaric says outpaces comparably configured competing systems tested under identical conditions. The machine is available in two physical configurations. The Standard layout positions intensifiers at floor level alongside the vessel, requiring 1,000 square feet at a machine height of 8.9 feet — suited to facilities with limited ceiling clearance. The Integrated layout mounts intensifiers on a built-in mezzanine platform above the vessel, trimming the floor footprint to 940 square feet while raising the machine height to 16.5 feet. Operators at existing H525 installations can upgrade to 12 intensifiers without replacing the base unit, and Standard-configuration owners can convert to the Integrated mezzanine platform, preserving capital investment while unlocking full throughput.
Why It Matters
For food and beverage manufacturers under pressure to raise output within fixed four walls — a persistent constraint as construction costs remain elevated — the footprint-to-throughput ratio is the operative metric. HPP, a non-thermal post-packaging preservation method that uses water-transmitted isostatic pressure to inactivate pathogens and spoilage organisms without heat, has been gaining traction across chilled juices, ready-to-eat meats, seafood, and dairy as brands pursue clean-label positioning and extended refrigerated shelf life. Hiperbaric's installed base now exceeds 450 machines globally, giving the company a large field dataset from which to tune intensifier performance. The firm manufactures its intensifiers in-house, which it says shortens the optimization loop between field data and hardware updates.
The H525's ergonomic design eliminates up to 20,000 pounds of manual canister lifting per shift via a fully integrated return conveyor. Separately, each intensifier is independently isolatable — a design Hiperbaric says is unique to its machines in the HPP sector — allowing technicians to service a single unit while the remaining intensifiers keep the vessel running. "Processors are being asked to do more with the same building," said Rob Peregrina, USA Executive Director of Hiperbaric. "The 525 with 12 intensifiers gives them the highest throughput we've ever built into a 525-gallon platform, and the Integrated configuration delivers that throughput in a footprint that's a fraction of what comparable systems require."
Support Infrastructure
Every H525 ships with Hiperbaric's HPP Support Program at no ongoing cost. The package includes 24/7 remote troubleshooting, on-site field engineers deployable within 24 to 48 hours, and four global spare-parts warehouses — in the United States, Mexico, Spain, and New Zealand — each committed to sub-24-hour shipment. An online Uptime Portal covers parts ordering, live shipment tracking, preventive maintenance schedules, and video tutorials. Processors also receive food-science support from Hiperbaric's in-house process authorities, designed to accelerate regulatory and validation timelines for new HPP product launches. An annual maintenance training workshop in Burgos, Spain, offered in English and Spanish with accommodation and meals covered by the company, rounds out the program. Hiperbaric will also present a session titled "Clean Label Meets Food Safety with High Pressure Processing" on October 19 at PACK EXPO's Processing Innovation Stage.
