The Launch

JiMMYBAR! Functional Protein has entered the trail mix category with what it claims is the world's first ready-to-eat snack combining creatine monohydrate and protein in a shelf-stable, on-the-go format. The Illinois-based brand unveiled the line at the 2026 Mr. Olympia competition in Las Vegas on October 14, exactly one year after it debuted its Creatine + Protein Bar at the same event.

Each serving delivers 12 grams of protein and 5 grams of creatine — the clinically studied dose most commonly referenced in sports-nutrition research. The launch marks JiMMYBAR!'s first meaningful product-category extension since the company was founded in 2014, and signals an ambition to build a broader functional-snack platform rather than remain a single-format brand. The trail mix line is currently sold exclusively through JiMMYBARs.com in 10-count and 20-count single-flavor and variety-pack configurations.

The Product Line

Co-Founder Nettie Del Prete led development of five SKUs: Wild Strawberry Crunch with Collagen, Chocolate Peanut Butter Blast, Blueberry Lemon Crumble with Collagen, Fudge Brownie Bliss, and Orange Cream Swirl with Collagen. Three of the five varieties layer in collagen as an additional functional ingredient, a positioning move that broadens appeal beyond core sports-nutrition consumers toward the wider wellness-snacking segment. All five are manufactured in-house at JiMMYBAR!'s Elk Grove Village, Illinois facility under the brand's stated "Real Food First" philosophy.

"We saw a problem with traditional creatine consumption, so we solved it by creating revolutionary products that fit into people's everyday lives," said Jim Simon, CEO and Co-Founder. "Last year, we reinvented the protein bar. This year, we're doing it again with trail mix."

Market Context

The launch lands against a backdrop of surging mainstream interest in creatine. Once confined to weightlifting circles, creatine monohydrate has migrated into broader consumer consciousness, driven partly by social-media discourse around cognitive and longevity benefits beyond muscle performance. That cultural shift has accelerated demand for creatine in formats beyond powder — a gap JiMMYBAR! identified when it introduced its protein bar last year and is now doubling down on with a snack format that requires no mixing equipment.

The functional-snack segment more broadly remains one of the faster-growing areas of the packaged food market, as retailers from mass channels to convenience stores seek differentiated high-margin SKUs. JiMMYBAR!'s existing retail footprint — which includes Target, Sam's Club, Costco, GNC, H-E-B, Hy-Vee, and Wawa — gives the brand established shelf relationships should the DTC-first trail mix line expand to physical retail. The functional beverage and supplement-snack crossover trend has already drawn investment from larger CPG players monitoring adjacent white space.

To drive initial sell-through, JiMMYBAR! is running a launch promotion through October 21, 2026: consumers who purchase two trail mix packs receive a third pack at 50.0% off, with the discount applied automatically at checkout. The time-limited offer is designed to drive multi-unit basket sizes and trial across the variety portfolio. Operators and buyers tracking better-for-you snack innovation will note that the DTC-exclusive rollout provides the brand with direct consumer data before any potential retail pitch.
