The Activation

WK Kellogg Co is extending its Kellogg's Raisin Bran sports-marketing campaign into Major League Pickleball's 2026 championship weekend, running August 28–30 in New York City's Central Park. The brand and the New Jersey Fives are reprising "The Fibes" — a team-name takeover that debuted at MLP's Mid-Season Tournament in Grand Rapids, Michigan, last month — and scaling it into a broader consumer-activation platform developed with agency VaynerMedia.

The Central Park practice court will be repainted in Raisin Bran's signature magenta and purple and converted into a fan-play experience where attendees can sample product, collect branded merchandise, and interact with the brand's Sunny mascot. The move signals a shift in how WK Kellogg Co is deploying sports sponsorship dollars: rather than static court-side placements, the company is embedding the brand inside team identity and live-event programming.

Why Fiber, Why Pickleball

The campaign's strategic underpinning is a documented nutrition gap. According to the 2020–2025 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 95.0% of Americans fall short of recommended daily fiber intake. Kellogg's Raisin Bran delivers 7 grams of fiber per serving — positioning the product as a functional breakfast choice rather than a legacy cereal brand. Linking that message to professional athletes and high-visibility live sport is a deliberate attempt to reframe fiber as a performance input rather than a digestive afterthought.

"This next chapter gives us an opportunity to go deeper into the routines behind performance and show how simple, consistent choices — including making fiber part of breakfast — can become part of how athletes prepare for their day," said Doug VanDeVelde, Chief Growth Officer at WK Kellogg Co. Pickleball's demographic skew — older millennial and Gen X players who index highly on health and wellness — maps closely to the functional-food consumer that cereal brands are most eager to retain amid category pressure from protein-forward breakfast alternatives.

For context on how packaged-food brands are navigating shifting breakfast category dynamics, the Raisin Bran play fits a wider pattern of legacy CPG labels seeking relevance through experiential marketing rather than traditional media spending. As grocery retailers continue to allocate more shelf space to high-fiber and gut-health SKUs, aligning a heritage brand with sports culture provides incremental visibility in a competitive better-for-you segment.

League and Team Context

Major League Pickleball, which merged with the PPA Tour under the United Pickleball Association in 2024, now fields 20 franchises. Commissioner Samin Odhwani described 2026 as "record-breaking for the business across the board," attributing growth in part to team-level commercial partnerships of the type the New Jersey Fives have pursued with Kellogg's.

The New Jersey Fives are co-owned by Gary Vaynerchuk and Ryan Harwood, and carry the league's top-ranked player, Anna Leigh Waters, on their roster. Ryan Harwood, who also serves as CEO of Gallery Media Group and Tamara Group, noted that the original Fibes activation succeeded because it "didn't feel like a traditional sports sponsorship" — a distinction increasingly valued by brand partners allocating experiential budgets against measurable fan engagement rather than broadcast impressions.

Branded "Fibes" jerseys are available for purchase at kelloggstore.com, giving the campaign a direct commerce component that allows WK Kellogg Co to track consumer intent beyond event attendance metrics.
