Keurig Dr Pepper (Nasdaq: KDP) reported third-quarter net sales of $7.3 billion, a 70.6% increase from $4.3 billion in the year-ago period, as the April 1 consolidation of the JDE Peet's global coffee business added $2.6 billion in incremental segment revenue. Excluding the acquisition, legacy KDP net sales rose 8.6%, driven by volume and mix growth of 6.5% and favorable net price realization of 2.1%.
The Numbers
Adjusted diluted earnings per share climbed 22.2% to $0.66, while GAAP diluted EPS increased 20.4% to $0.59. Adjusted operating income rose 52.5% to $1.7 billion, representing a 22.7% adjusted operating margin. Results in the quarter included a $99 million benefit from tariff refunds, which management credited as a meaningful contributor to U.S. Coffee segment performance. Free cash flow for the quarter totaled $1.01 billion, with operating cash flow of $1.04 billion. Through the first nine months of 2026, free cash flow reached $1.9 billion compared with $955 million in the prior-year period.
CEO Tim Cofer noted the quarter featured "meaningful net sales and EPS growth, along with healthy free cash flow," adding that the company remains on track to deliver its 2026 financial commitments and to achieve milestones required for its planned separation into two independent companies.
Segment Breakdown
U.S. Refreshment Beverages — which houses carbonated soft drinks, water, juice, and mixer brands including Dr Pepper, Canada Dry, Mott's, Snapple, and GHOST — posted net sales of $3.0 billion, up 10.9%, with volume and mix growing 7.2% and net price realization adding 3.7%. Adjusted operating income for the segment expanded 8.3% to $884 million, an adjusted margin of 29.1%. The business continues to benefit from double-digit momentum in energy drinks and premium mixer categories, two of the fastest-growing segments across the broader beverage industry.
U.S. Coffee net sales edged up 2.7% to $1.0 billion, as volume and mix growth of 6.9% was partly offset by unfavorable net price realization of 4.2% — a reflection of commodity-driven retail price competition in the single-serve pod category. Adjusted operating income grew 11.4% to $353 million, an adjusted margin of 34.7%, boosted by the tariff refund benefit, volume gains, and cost synergies. KDP International contributed $644 million in net sales, up 11.0% on a reported basis and 7.6% on a constant-currency basis, with adjusted operating income of $160 million; margin pressure from the Mexico beverage tax and stepped-up marketing partially offset top-line growth. JDE Peet's, the newly consolidated global coffee segment spanning brands including Peet's, L'OR, and Jacobs across more than 100 markets, contributed $2.6 billion in net sales and $480 million in adjusted operating income, an 18.1% adjusted margin, wholly incremental on a year-over-year basis given the April acquisition close.
Full-Year Outlook
Management reaffirmed 2026 full-year guidance of $25.9 billion to $26.4 billion in net sales, with constant-currency adjusted diluted EPS growth in a low-double-digit range. The guidance incorporates $8.3 billion to $8.4 billion in JDE Peet's net sales contribution and a 7- to 8-percentage-point EPS growth contribution from the acquisition, alongside 3% to 5% constant-currency EPS growth for the legacy KDP business — the latter revised modestly lower to reflect updated expectations for U.S. Coffee. At current exchange rates, foreign currency translation is forecast to provide approximately a half-percentage-point tailwind to both net sales and EPS growth for the full year. The company's pro forma management leverage ratio stood at 4.1 times as of September 30, 2026, based on trailing twelve-month pro forma adjusted EBITDA of $6.8 billion against net debt of $27.9 billion. For operators and foodservice distributors tracking KDP's portfolio strategy, the company's planned separation of its refreshment beverage and global coffee businesses remains a key structural development to monitor across the beverage industry and broader consumer-packaged-goods sector.
