New Product Line Targets 'Swicy' Trend and Professional Kitchens

Mr Bing, the pan-Asian street sauce brand, is entering the BBQ sauce category with four retail flavors and a 74-ounce foodservice format, riding a wave of consumer demand for globally inspired condiments that blend heat, sweetness, and savory complexity.

The lineup includes Sweet & Spicy Chili Crisp BBQ Sauce (hot heat), Sweet & Tangy Chili Crisp BBQ Sauce (mild heat), Hot Honey Thai Chili BBQ Sauce (hot heat, gluten-free), and Sweet & Spicy Korean Chili BBQ Sauce with gochujang (medium heat, gluten-free). All retail bottles are 14.75 ounces.

According to Datassential, chili crisp has grown 498% on Asian cuisine menus and 760% across all U.S. menus over four years, making it the fastest-growing condiment tracked by the research firm. The "swicy" category—balancing spice and sweetness—has also gained traction among younger consumers seeking adventurous condiments for wings, pizza, grilled meats, and vegetables.

Strategy Rooted in Professional Kitchens

"We develop products that deliver rich, layered, nuanced flavors consistently at every scale. Since day one, our focus has been real ingredients, street food inspiration, and confidence that consumers and culinary professionals are ready for bolder, global flavors," said Brian Goldberg, founder of Mr Bing.

The foodservice SKU (Chili Crisp BBQ Sauce, 74oz) was designed based on what chefs were already doing in their kitchens. According to Datassential, nine in ten consumers who love a restaurant's signature sauce say they would purchase a retail version.

Retail Expansion Underway

Mr Bing is now stocked in more than 10,000 retail doors nationwide. The new BBQ lineup has already secured placement in more than 2,500 stores, including major banners such as Jewel-Osco, United Supermarkets, Shaw's, and multiple divisions of Albertsons Companies (Mid Atlantic, Southern California, and Northern California regions). Distribution also includes Hannaford and Giant Food under the Ahold Delhaize family of banners, plus regional retailers like DeCicco & Sons.

About Mr Bing

Founded in 2012, Mr Bing began as a kiosk concept inspired by decades of street food in Beijing, Hong Kong's night markets, and Manhattan's late-night food crawls. The brand focuses on high-quality, globally inspired sauces designed for both retail consumers and foodservice operators.

Why It Matters

Operators tracking sauce trends will note Mr Bing's dual-channel strategy: retail distribution that validates consumer demand while simultaneously developing foodservice formats. The company's focus on chili crisp and "swicy" profiles aligns with documented menu trends, making the new BBQ line a credible play for concepts seeking differentiated condiments beyond traditional offerings. With placement already secured in 2,500+ stores, the brand has achieved significant distribution velocity before national launch.
