The Perfect Purée of Napa Valley has acquired Strongwater, a Colorado-based producer of bitters, craft mixers and whole-plant beverages, the companies said on May 20, expanding Perfect Purée's footprint beyond its core premium fruit products into the fast-growing functional and craft-cocktail ingredients segment.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Strongwater brings a portfolio of award-winning bitters and globally inspired mixers positioned around functional benefits — a category that has drawn sustained investment as on-premise operators seek differentiated, ingredient-forward additions to cocktail and non-alcoholic programs. Perfect Purée, which has long supplied culinary and beverage professionals across the United States, did not provide pro forma revenue figures or integration cost guidance.
The acquisition reflects broader consolidation pressure in the premium beverage ingredients market, where suppliers are racing to offer bar and foodservice buyers a wider assortment under fewer vendor relationships. Craft bitters and botanical mixers have posted consistent volume growth as bartenders and menu developers move away from mass-produced modifiers toward products with verifiable provenance and functional claims — a dynamic that has attracted deal activity from both strategic acquirers and private-equity-backed platforms over the past three years. For Perfect Purée, adding a recognised bitters and mixer brand deepens its relevance to the same professional buyer base it already serves with fruit purées and zests.
Strongwater's whole-plant beverage line also positions the combined company in the non-alcoholic and zero-proof segment, one of the industry's most actively tracked growth vectors heading into the second half of the decade. The two product families are scheduled to appear together at Bar Convent Brooklyn, the on-trade beverage trade show running June 9–10 in New York City, marking their first joint commercial showcase under common ownership.
"This acquisition allows us to bring an even more complete toolkit to the professionals who rely on us," Perfect Purée said in a statement, without providing specific synergy or revenue targets. The company did not name advisers on the transaction or indicate whether additional bolt-on acquisitions are planned. Industry observers note that the deal follows a pattern seen across the craft beverage ingredients space, where niche producers with loyal professional customer bases have become attractive targets as larger suppliers seek to broaden their on-premise portfolios ahead of anticipated volume recovery in the hospitality channel.
