The Distribution Deal
Physician's Choice has secured a full-fleet placement at Costco, rolling out its 60 Billion Probiotic® Advanced formula across all 625 U.S. Costco warehouse locations effective August 3. The 75-count bottles are priced at $39.99, translating to roughly $0.53 per capsule — a unit-economics position designed to compete against mid-tier supplement staples already entrenched in club retail.
Formula and Positioning
The product is built around a three-part architecture: 10 probiotic strains delivering a combined 60 billion colony-forming units (CFUs), a prebiotic blend, and 20 mg of heat-treated L. gasseri CP2305 — a postbiotic ingredient the company says has been examined in clinical research. Among the probiotic strains are B. lactis Bl-04® (HOWARU®) and B. lactis HN019™ (HOWARU®), both of which carry clinical study data. The single-capsule daily format consolidates what would otherwise require multiple SKUs, a pitch that resonates in the value-focused club channel.
"We developed 60 Billion Probiotic® Advanced to bring probiotics, prebiotics, and a postbiotic together in a single daily capsule," said Logan Cheirotti, founder and CEO of Physician's Choice. "Launching the product nationwide at Costco will make the formula available to members across the United States."
Why Club Retail Matters
Club-channel distribution is a meaningful validator for supplement brands. Costco's warehouse model demands high sell-through velocity and rewards products with broad household appeal — criteria that gut-health supplements have increasingly met as digestive wellness becomes one of the fastest-growing categories in functional nutrition. The global probiotics market has attracted sustained consumer interest tied to broader awareness of the gut-microbiome connection to immunity and general well-being, a narrative that benefits shelf-stable, science-backed SKUs.
For Physician's Choice, the Costco placement represents a step-change in brick-and-mortar reach. The brand has built a substantial direct-to-consumer and e-commerce footprint, but full-fleet club distribution provides access to a distinct shopper demographic — bulk buyers who respond to value per dose rather than premium positioning. The $39.99 price point for 75 servings undercuts the per-unit cost of many comparable multi-strain formulas sold in specialty channels.
The launch also arrives as functional food and beverage operators face heightened competition in the digestive health segment, with ingredient suppliers, private-label manufacturers, and established supplement houses all vying for club and mass-retail shelf space. A Costco endorsement — even an implicit one through shelf placement — signals category credibility that typically accelerates broader retail conversations.
