Power Crunch, the wafer-format protein bar brand acquired by Ferrero Group in 2025, is rolling out refreshed packaging, a refined formula and a new marketing campaign across U.S. retailers and e-commerce channels, marking the brand's most significant repositioning since changing ownership.

The relaunch is the first substantive product move Ferrero has executed on the brand since folding it into a North American portfolio that already includes Butterfinger, Keebler and Famous Amos. The timing positions Power Crunch squarely within the fast-growing better-for-you snack segment, where protein content has become a primary purchase driver at mass, grocery and specialty retail.

The Product Changes

The reformulated bars retain the brand's signature crispy wafer-and-creamy-filling architecture while delivering 12 to 14 grams of protein per bar with no sugar alcohols. Five flavors anchor the refreshed lineup: peanut butter fudge, chocolate mint, strawberry crème, French vanilla crème and triple chocolate. The company is positioning the texture — lighter and airier than compressed or extruded protein bars that dominate shelf space — as a competitive differentiator in a category where density and chalkiness remain persistent consumer complaints.

Daniel Cutchin, General Manager of Power Crunch at Ferrero USA, framed the relaunch around seasonal consumer behavior. "Fall is often a season of fresh starts and new routines, making it the perfect moment to reintroduce Power Crunch to consumers," Cutchin said. "A protein snack that feels light, flavorful and easy to reach for any time of day" was how he described the brand's intended positioning.

Why It Matters for the Shelf

The protein bar market has seen sustained category expansion, with Food & Beverage Magazine tracking rising retailer interest in differentiated formats that move beyond traditional dense, high-calorie bars aimed exclusively at fitness consumers. Power Crunch's wafer format, which has been commercially available since 2003, occupies a niche between conventional snack bars and performance nutrition products — a positioning that aligns with broader consumer trends in better-for-you snacking.

For Ferrero, the relaunch is also a test of the conglomerate's ability to scale a specialty nutrition brand through its existing North American distribution infrastructure, which spans 15 plants and warehouses and more than 5,400 employees across the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean. The company's track record with acquired brands — including the integration of Nestlé's U.S. confectionery portfolio — suggests meaningful shelf-placement leverage, though the protein snack channel operates through distinct buyer relationships at grocery and mass retail versus the confectionery set.

What's Next

The reformulated Power Crunch bars are available now at retailers nationwide and online. The brand's full lineup also includes Power Crunch KIDS and Power Crunch PRO, the latter delivering 20 grams of protein across three flavors, giving Ferrero a tiered architecture to address multiple retail segments within the protein snack aisle. No pricing details or incremental distribution targets were disclosed in conjunction with the relaunch.
