The New Lineup
PS Seasoning, the Iron Ridge, Wisconsin-based flavor and ingredient solutions company, launched four home meat processing kits on September 15, expanding its consumer kit portfolio to 27 SKUs ahead of the fall hunting and wild-game processing season. The additions—a Fresh Italian Sausage Kit, Pepperoni Snack Stick Kit, Smoked Maple Bacon Kit and Jerky Kit in Candied Jalapeño—are available direct-to-consumer and through select retail partners, priced between $11.99 and $29.99.
Each kit is engineered around pre-portioned ingredients and step-by-step instructions sized for 15- to 25-pound batches. The Fresh Italian Sausage Kit ($24.99) covers a classic black pepper, fennel, crushed red chili and garlic blend with natural hog casings for a 25-pound yield. The Pepperoni Snack Stick Kit ($29.99) includes pepperoni seasoning, cure and 21mm collagen casings compatible with beef-and-pork or venison-and-pork combinations, also for a 25-pound batch. The Smoked Maple Bacon Kit ($11.99) requires a seven-to-ten-day cure of pork belly before smoking and similarly yields 25 pounds, while the Jerky Kit—Candied Jalapeño ($11.99) uses a jalapeño-and-honey formulation that caramelizes during processing for a 15-pound yield from beef or wild game.
Consumer Demand Context
The timing reflects strengthening retail protein trends. According to The Power of Meat 2026, a joint study from FMI and the Meat Institute, protein has grown in importance for 42.0% of Americans, and 45.0% of shoppers report actively trying to prepare more meals containing meat or poultry. That dynamic supports both the home-processing segment and the broader category of at-home meal crafting that has sustained elevated engagement since 2020.
PS Seasoning, a subsidiary of Dervati—the Hanni family's third-generation food experience holding company that also includes equipment brand Pro Smoker—serves commercial processors, meat markets and butcher shops alongside the direct consumer channel. Its R&D team includes four certified Master Meat Crafters who hold credentials from the University of Wisconsin–Madison's two-year program in meat science, food safety and processing, a credential that differentiates the brand's technical positioning against private-label competitors in the home-processing aisle.
"Meat processing is a craft, but you don't have to be an expert to make a great first batch," said Stephanie Neu, Master Meat Crafter at PS Seasoning. "Starting with the right ingredients, measurements and instructions makes all the difference."
Companion Tool and Distribution
Alongside the kits, PS Seasoning released a free Meat Block Calculator on its website, designed to let home processors scale beyond kit volumes. Users select a seasoning, enter a raw meat weight, and receive precise measurements for seasoning, cure and water in pounds, ounces or grams—applying the same formulation methodology the company uses with commercial accounts. The tool is a direct-to-digital retention play, giving the brand a data-capture touchpoint with consumers who outgrow the kit format.
All four kits are all-game compatible, which matters commercially: fall deer, elk and wild boar seasons drive a concentrated processing demand window across the Upper Midwest and Mountain West that specialty ingredient suppliers compete to capture. Retailers carrying PS Seasoning products can be located via the company's store locator. The broader portfolio spans more than 5,000 unique blends, with the company producing over 80 million pounds of seasoning annually.
