The Promotion
QDOBA Mexican Eats is deploying a nine-week seasonal campaign called Diptember, running September 1 through November 2 at participating locations across its 870-unit system, to drive incremental traffic and digital order volume heading into the slower fall daypart. The centerpiece is a new limited-time Queso Fundido — QDOBA's signature 3-Cheese Queso layered with seasoned ground beef, picante ranch and fresh cilantro, served alongside freshly fried, in-house-seasoned tortilla chips — priced from $6.25.
The chain is pairing the LTO with a sequenced digital offer strategy. Guests who place app or web orders including Queso Fundido between September 1 and September 6 using code FUNDIDO receive $2 off their order. Two food-holiday activations follow: a free 4-oz. chips-and-guac with any regular entrée on National Guacamole Day (September 16, code GUACDAY), and a free 4-oz. chips-and-queso on National Queso Day (September 20, code QUESODAY). None of the promotions apply to third-party delivery orders, a notable structural choice that keeps margin impact within QDOBA's own digital channels.
Menu Expansion
Beyond the savory LTO, QDOBA is simultaneously introducing Churro Chips Chocolate Dip — the brand's first sweet dip, priced from $2.75 — to accompany its recently launched Churro Chips dessert line. The move extends QDOBA's condiment architecture into the dessert occasion, a category where fast-casual Mexican operators have historically had limited attachment-rate opportunity. Together, the two new additions bring the brand's total dip, salsa and sauce count to 15 during the promotional window, encompassing options from Hand-Crafted Guacamole and Queso Diablo to Chile Crema, Fiery Habanero Salsa and Sour Cream.
"Customization is at the heart of the QDOBA experience," said Chef Katy Velazquez, VP of Culinary Innovation at QDOBA. "With 14 dips, salsas, and sauces available across our menu, guests can create a different flavor experience every time they visit."
Operator Context
For franchise operators and foodservice analysts, the Diptember architecture reflects a broader fast-casual playbook: use low-cost limited-time offers to condition guests toward higher-frequency digital ordering while generating earned media around food holidays. QDOBA's decision to include Queso Fundido in its catering Chips & Dip Party Pack and Catering Hot Bar add-on positions the LTO as an off-premise revenue tool as well, tapping the corporate catering segment that fast-casual chains have leaned on heavily since hybrid work stabilized traffic patterns. QDOBA currently operates across 46 U.S. states as well as Canada, Puerto Rico, Japan and South Korea, and has ranked among the top fast-casual chains in USA TODAY's 10 Best Readers' Choice Awards for seven consecutive years — six of those at No. 1.
