The Product

Smoothie King is adding a GLP-1-positioned pumpkin smoothie to its fall limited-time lineup, becoming the first national quick-service brand to extend the GLP-1 Support Menu format into a seasonal pumpkin offering. The Slim-N-Trim® GLP-1 Pumpkin Smoothie, available at participating locations across the chain's roughly 1,200 U.S. units, delivers more than 23 grams of protein, 9 grams of fiber and zero grams of added sugar, with 100% organic pumpkin puree as the base.

The SKU joins five other pumpkin items in the 2026 fall rollout, ranging from the protein-heavy Coffee High Protein Pumpkin — 31 grams of protein and 83 milligrams of caffeine — to a plant-based Vegan Pumpkin with 12 grams of protein and a good-source-of-Vitamin-C claim. The Power Meal® Pumpkin targets meal-replacement positioning with 20-plus grams of protein, while the Slim-N-Trim® Pumpkin and D-Lite® Pumpkin round out the value end of the lineup at 13 and 12 grams of protein respectively.

GLP-1 as a Menu Strategy

Smoothe King first introduced its GLP-1 Support Menu in 2024 — a move that drew wide attention across the foodservice industry as the first such designated menu from a national QSR chain. The company is now using seasonal innovation to refresh that platform without requiring a full menu restructure. Lori Primavera, Vice President of R&D and Product Marketing at Smoothie King, framed the approach as a natural extension of the brand's nutrition heritage: "Now with the Slim-N-Trim GLP-1 Pumpkin Smoothie, we're continuing to lead the category by proving that seasonal favorites can be both delicious and thoughtfully developed to support today's wellness goals."

The strategic logic tracks with documented consumer behavioral shifts among GLP-1 users. Research cited by the company indicates that guests on these medications increasingly prioritize higher protein, elevated fiber and reduced added sugar — nutritional attributes that also align with broader consumer wellness trends well beyond the GLP-1 cohort. For operators and franchisees, that overlap expands the addressable customer base for a single SKU. The growing intersection of pharmaceutical weight-loss drugs and foodservice menu development is reshaping how chains think about functional positioning, with Smoothie King's iterative approach serving as a reference case for QSR peers.

Promotional Mechanics

The fall lineup is available from August 18 through the end of September. Smoothie King's Healthy Rewards loyalty program members can add a toast or flatbread to any 20-ounce pumpkin smoothie for $3.99 during that window — a bundling mechanic the Dallas-based franchisor is using to drive food-attach rates across its newer Power Eats food platform, which earned Nation's Restaurant News' MenuMasters Healthful Innovation award in 2026. A free sampling event for the Pumpkin D-Lite® Smoothie is scheduled for August 27 at participating locations for Healthy Rewards members, while supplies last.

The dual focus on loyalty engagement and functional nutrition positions the pumpkin launch as more than a seasonal traffic play. For the chain's franchise network, it also represents an opportunity to boost average check with premium-positioned, high-protein SKUs at a time when consumers are spending more deliberate attention on macronutrient composition. Smoothie King, founded in 1973, has ranked 17th in Entrepreneur Magazine's 2026 Franchise 500 and is active across Technomic's Top 500 Chains list.
