Sweetgreen Posts Record Q1 Earnings, Launches AI-Powered Digital Menu Platform
Sweetgreen, Inc. reshuffles leadership ranks, with implications for operators across the sector.
Sweetgreen, Inc. (NYSE: SG) reported record first-quarter results, with revenue of $215 million, up 24% year over year, and same-store sales growth of 9.4%. The fast-casual chain also announced the rollout of an AI-powered digital menu platform that will personalize ordering recommendations across its app and in-store kiosks.
## Background and mandate
The platform, developed in partnership with an unnamed AI infrastructure provider, uses purchase history, dietary preferences, and contextual signals like weather and time of day to surface menu suggestions. Sweetgreen said pilot stores saw a 14% lift in average ticket and a 7-point increase in customer satisfaction scores.
"Digital is no longer a channel — it's the operating system of the restaurant," said Sweetgreen co-founder and CEO Jonathan Neman. "We're using AI to make the experience more personal, not more impersonal."
## Why it matters
For industry operators, this is another data point in the structural change reshaping the earnings sector. Watch for follow-on moves from competitors and reactions from key channel partners in the coming quarters.
The company also raised its full-year revenue guidance to a range of $920 million to $940 million.
