A 138-bottle run of Tequila Partida's Roble Fino Añejo Single Barrel goes on sale October 2 at $199.99, in an exclusive retail partnership with Southern Spirits of Indian Land, South Carolina — the first cask-strength expression in the Roble Fino line and a one-time, non-recurring release once inventory is exhausted.
Production & Cask Profile
The liquid was matured for 26 months in an American oak barrel previously used for three years by Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey, then finished for an additional six months in a Sherry Single Malt cask that had held Oloroso Sherry for three years and Single Malt Scotch Whisky for 24 years. It was bottled straight from barrel at 54.5% ABV (109 proof) without dilution. Maestro Tequilero José Valdez Reynoso, who has overseen Partida's production since the brand's 2005 founding in the Valley of Jalisco, Mexico, described the release as the product of more than two decades of cask experimentation. "This is a unique Añejo that preserves the clean agave character and distinctive minerality of Tequila Partida while adding remarkable depth and complexity from the two different oak maturation stages," Reynoso said.
Distribution & Access
The release is tightly geographically constrained: South Carolina residents may purchase online or in-store, while out-of-state buyers must travel to the Indian Land location to acquire a bottle. The October 2 launch event runs from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. EST, with Reynoso present. Southern Spirits, which bills itself as the world's second-best liquor store, carries more than 5,000 spirits SKUs and over 4,000 beer selections — a profile that positions it as a destination-retail partner suited to ultra-limited drops of this kind.
Premium Spirits Context
The Roble Fino Single Barrel sits at the intersection of two accelerating trends in the beverage alcohol sector: the continued premiumisation of aged tequila and the growing consumer appetite for cask-finished spirits with whisky provenance. The aged and extra-aged tequila segment has posted consistent volume and value growth over the past several years as bartenders and collectors increasingly treat the category with the same reverence applied to single-malt Scotch. For Lucas Bols — the Amsterdam-based spirits group that owns Tequila Partida alongside Bols, Passoã, and Galliano, and operates in more than 110 countries — limited single-barrel expressions serve a dual purpose: they generate trade buzz around the Roble Fino platform while testing consumer willingness to pay $199.99 price points for tequila positioned alongside premium whisky. The strategy echoes moves by other premium spirits operators that have used retailer-exclusive, micro-batch drops to drive brand equity without broad distribution commitments. Operators and buyers tracking on-premise cocktail menu trends will note that cask-finished, high-proof tequilas are increasingly appearing in high-end bar programs as a whisky-adjacent pour — a positioning Partida's dual-cask provenance directly supports.
Once the 138 bottles sell through, the expression will not be restocked.
