PepsiCo Foods U.S. is staging a three-part product offensive under the Tostitos banner ahead of the NFL season, combining a limited-time flavored chip, a first-ever refrigerated dip entry, and returning licensed packaging — all hitting retail shelves between Aug. 9 and Aug. 15.

The Three Launches

Leading the rollout is Tostitos Spicy Queso Blanco Flavored Tortilla Chips, a limited-time offering shipping nationally Aug. 9 in an 11-ounce bag. The SKU is positioned as a riff on the chips-and-queso pairing, blending queso cheese flavor with peppers and spices. Limited-time flavors have become a standard velocity driver in the salty snack segment, where novelty consistently pulls incremental trips without cannibalizing core SKUs.

The more structurally significant move is the Aug. 15 debut of Tostitos Chunky Guacamole Mild and Tostitos Chunky Guacamole Medium Hint of Lime-Flavored Dip — the brand's first entry into the refrigerated aisle. Distribution is confirmed at Kroger and Walmart nationwide in 8-ounce, 15-ounce, and six-count 2-ounce single-serve formats. The products carry Non-GMO Project Verified, vegan, kosher, and gluten-free certifications and contain no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. The move marks a category expansion for PepsiCo Foods, which has historically kept Tostitos confined to the ambient snack aisle.

Why Refrigerated Matters

The refrigerated dips and spreads segment — anchored by guacamole, hummus, and salsa — has posted consistent volume growth as shoppers migrate toward fresh-format accompaniments. Tostitos enters a space currently led by brands such as Wholly Guacamole (Chosen Foods) and Fresh Del Monte, competing on brand recognition and retail fixture adjacency rather than ingredient differentiation. Placing the product at Kroger and Walmart simultaneously gives PepsiCo Foods immediate scale across two of the country's largest grocery channels.

A PepsiCo-commissioned survey of 1,000 nationally representative Americans, fielded by RepData in January 2026, found that 74.0% of respondents choose chips and dip while watching football — a data point the company is deploying to justify the timing. Denise Truelove, Senior Vice President of Marketing at PepsiCo Foods North America, framed the trio of launches around occasion-based consumption: "Our new limited-time offering, Spicy Queso Blanco, puts a bold spin on the iconic chips-and-queso pairing. Alongside the launch of Tostitos Chunky Guacamole and the return of our NFL Team Bags, we're giving fans even more ways to gather, celebrate gameday traditions and enjoy football season together."

NFL Packaging and Promotions

Rounding out the program are limited-edition NFL Team Bags, returning regionally in August with updated graphics. Beginning Aug. 10, consumers who scan codes on participating bags and in-store displays can enter for team-inspired prizes and experiences through Dec. 6, 2026. Featured franchises include the Chicago Bears, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, and Seattle Seahawks, among others.

The licensed packaging play reinforces Tostitos' status as the Official Chip & Dip Sponsor of the NFL, a partnership that provides exclusive retail marketing rights during one of the highest-velocity snack-selling windows of the year. For retailers, the combination of new SKUs, refrigerated expansion, and promotional mechanics provides multiple levers for end-cap and display activity. PepsiCo Foods, whose parent generated $94.0 billion in net revenue in 2025, is deploying the Tostitos NFL window as both a short-term volume driver and a longer-term proof of concept for refrigerated brand extension — a strategy worth watching as the salty snack category continues to evolve beyond the center store.
