Eight months after its national grocery debut, Tractor Beverage Company has secured shelf space at one of the Northeast's most closely watched food retailers. All four flavors of its Haymaker USDA Certified Organic apple cider vinegar sparkling tonic went on sale September 1 at 50 Wegmans Food Markets locations, marking the brand's first retail expansion beyond Sprouts Farmers Market, where Haymaker launched in January 2026.

The Product

Haymaker is built around a full tablespoon of organic apple cider vinegar per 12-ounce can, with light carbonation, no added sugar, five grams of sugar, and 25 to 30 calories depending on flavor. The four-SKU lineup — Citrus Ginger, Apricot Peach, Dragon Berry, and Passion Mango — carries Clean Label Project Certification across all varieties. The rapid pivot from foodservice-oriented organic beverage supplier to consumer retail contender represents a meaningful strategic shift for the Denver-based, employee-owned company, which has historically anchored its business in on-premise channels.

Award Momentum

The Wegmans placement arrives on the back of a notable awards run that has given Haymaker unusual early visibility for a retail line less than a year old. Bon Appétit selected Haymaker as one of six winners from 170 drink submissions for its inaugural Pantry Awards. At the National Restaurant Association Show, all four flavors received 2026 FABI Awards; Citrus Ginger was additionally named a FABI Favorite. Apricot Peach captured the 2026 NEXTY Award in the Beverage category at Natural Products Expo West — a recognition that carries significant buyer influence in the natural and specialty grocery channel.

"Wegmans is a place people trust to introduce them to what's good and what's next," said John Murphy, Chief Revenue Officer at Tractor Beverage Company. "We're proud to have Haymaker be part of that and excited to introduce Tractor to a whole new group of shoppers across the Northeast."

Retail Channel Strategy

The Wegmans addition signals that Tractor is pursuing a targeted premium-grocer strategy rather than broad conventional retail distribution. Wegmans, which operates roughly 110 stores concentrated in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, is considered a high-influence gatekeeper for emerging better-for-you beverage brands: placements there often translate into broader buyer interest from other regional and national grocers. For Tractor, whose core identity is rooted in regenerative and organic sourcing practices, the retailer's reputation for curated natural and specialty sets aligns closely with the brand's positioning.

The apple cider vinegar functional beverage segment has attracted growing attention from both established non-alcoholic beverage players and emerging brands as consumers seek low-calorie, low-sugar alternatives with ingredient transparency credentials. Tractor's entry into that space via the Haymaker line gives the company a retail-facing growth vehicle to complement its existing foodservice and on-premise business, which remains the core of its revenue base. Whether the brand pursues further grocery door expansion beyond Sprouts and Wegmans before year-end has not been disclosed.
