The Deal

Treasure Cave, America's first commercially produced blue cheese brand, has been named the Official Cheese of the Buffalo Bills for the 2026 season — a sponsorship that gives the Wisconsin-made dairy brand a direct route into the stadium's food-and-beverage program and a captive audience of tens of thousands of fans per game.

The partnership launches at Highmark Stadium's home opener against the Detroit Lions on Sept. 17, with additional brand activations scheduled for the Salute to Service game against the Miami Dolphins on Nov. 22 and the team's inaugural Thanksgiving home game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Nov. 26. Each activation runs in the Pregame Plaza between Gates C and D, three hours before kickoff.

Stadium Placement & Activation

On the concession side, Treasure Cave blue cheese will serve as the core ingredient in a house-made blue cheese dip sold throughout Highmark Stadium alongside staple western New York items — chicken wings, chicken finger subs, and pizza. That in-stadium menu integration is the more durable commercial asset of the deal, extending brand exposure well beyond the three featured activation dates and into every home game on the Bills' schedule.

At the Pregame Plaza footprint, the brand is deploying an experiential format designed to drive social sharing: an oversized branded tub filled with foam "blue cheese crumbles" for photos, and a tailgate challenge called "Flip the Tub." Product sampling of Treasure Cave's blue cheese dip and spread is also on offer at each activation.

"The Bills Mafia bring unmatched energy and pride to every game, and we wanted to create experiences that are just as memorable," said Samina Kirchen, Treasure Cave brand manager. "Whether fans are taking photos in an oversized blue cheese tub foam pit, playing 'Flip the Tub,' or enjoying bites of our blue cheese dip, we're excited to be part of their game day traditions."

Retail & Broader Strategy

The Bills will amplify reach through a weekly "Treasure Cave Ticket Tuesday" giveaway, beginning the week of Sept. 13, distributing two tickets to each remaining home game via the team's social media channels — a mechanism that ties consumer engagement directly to retail interest.

For the brand, the NFL tie-in represents a meaningful step in connecting a heritage dairy product to high-velocity foodservice and entertainment occasions. Treasure Cave is stocked locally at Wegmans Food Markets, Tops Friendly Markets, and Price Rite, and is available at grocery retailers nationwide. Sports-venue sponsorships have become an increasingly competitive arena for specialty food brands seeking to convert occasion-based trial into recurring retail purchase — a playbook used effectively across categories from hot sauce to craft beer.

Founded in 1935 when caves in Faribault, Minnesota, were repurposed for cheese aging, the brand now produces its blue and gorgonzola varieties at a facility in Almena, Wisconsin. Its positioning as the original American cave-aged blue cheese gives it a provenance story well-suited to the authenticity-focused messaging that resonates in the current premium dairy segment.
