Belgian Boys has named Louisa Lawless as Chief Commercial Officer, tasking her with accelerating retail distribution, deepening retailer partnerships, and building what the Brooklyn-based breakfast brand describes as a category of its own.

The Executive's Track Record

Lawless brings close to two decades of commercial leadership across the food and beverage industry. Her résumé includes a stint as Chief Strategy Officer at Core Nutrition, where she helped engineer the brand's $525 million acquisition by Keurig Dr Pepper — one of the more notable CPG exits in the premium hydration segment. Before that, as EVP of Commercial Marketing and Sales at Nutrabolt, she oversaw the commercialization of the Bloom, C4, Cellucor, and Xtend portfolios, delivering year-over-year volume growth across several competitive functional-beverage categories. She began her career at Red Bull North America, eventually overseeing the company's largest energy drink market. Most recently, she served as CCO at Korb Health Group, leading commercial operations across personalized weight loss, women's and men's health, and longevity verticals.

Why Belgian Boys Moved

Belgian Boys has built its retail presence on European-inspired breakfast items — waffles, pancakes, and crepes — positioned around non-GMO ingredients and no artificial flavors or preservatives. The brand has appeared on Instacart's Fastest-Growing Brands list for three consecutive years, a signal of strong e-commerce velocity that the company now wants to translate into broader brick-and-mortar scale. CEO Anouck Gotlib said Lawless's track record in scaling emerging brands, combined with her alignment with the company's mission, made her the clear choice. "Louisa's energy is contagious," Gotlib said. "What sealed it for us was how excited she is about building, and how naturally she connected with our team and our mission from the very first conversation."

Lawless, who is based in Long Beach, California, said the brand's potential to define a new retail category was the primary draw. "The brand has real permission to create a new category, and that's a rare thing in CPG," she said. Breakfast is a fiercely contested aisle, with legacy brands and a growing cohort of better-for-you challengers competing for shelf space and consumer mindshare. Belgian Boys' wager is that a premium, convenience-oriented European-inspired positioning can command a distinct segment rather than compete directly on price against established players.

What Comes Next

Lawless's commercial remit spans retail, e-commerce, and foodservice channels — a broad mandate that reflects the company's ambition to move beyond its current distribution footprint. For CPG operators in the breakfast and morning-occasion segment, the hire signals that Belgian Boys is preparing for a more aggressive go-to-market phase, potentially including expanded club and mass retail doors alongside its existing grocery relationships. Executives with Lawless's background in scaling better-for-you brands through retail partnerships are increasingly in demand as emerging food companies look to bridge the gap between strong DTC and e-commerce metrics and the unit economics required for profitable national distribution.

Investors and retail buyers tracking the better-for-you breakfast segment and CPG executive moves will watch whether Belgian Boys can convert its Instacart momentum into sustained shelf productivity at scale — the metric that ultimately determines whether a fast-growing challenger brand earns a durable position in the aisle.
