Cure Hydration said Tuesday it has launched across 1,227 Target stores and on Target.com, marking the New York-based brand's most significant single-retailer expansion to date and materially widening distribution for its plant-based electrolyte line.

The rollout places Cure's products — formulated around the World Health Organization's Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) standard, which calibrates sodium-to-glucose ratios for optimal cellular uptake — on shelves in every Target-operating U.S. market. The company did not disclose financial terms of the retail agreement, projected revenue contribution, or unit volume targets for the partnership.

The functional hydration segment has attracted sustained consumer and investor interest as shoppers migrate away from high-sugar sports drinks toward lower-calorie, ingredient-transparent alternatives. According to data tracked by Food & Beverage Magazine, the broader sports and functional hydration category has logged consecutive years of above-category growth, driven in part by powder and ready-to-mix formats that carry lower logistics costs than ready-to-drink lines. Cure competes in that crowded space against established SKUs from Liquid I.V., LMNT, and Nuun, all of which have secured mass-market retail footholds in recent years. A Target listing represents a meaningful credibility signal given the retailer's documented emphasis on emerging wellness brands. The chain's roughly 1,950-store footprint means Cure is now present in more than 60% of Target locations, suggesting a phased approach with room for further shelf expansion. For context on how similar challenger brands have navigated retail distribution strategy and functional beverage category dynamics, the competitive calculus increasingly favors brands that can demonstrate velocity data early in a major-chain test window.

Cure has not provided forward guidance, same-store velocity projections, or commentary on future fundraising. The company's inclusion on Target.com alongside the physical rollout extends its addressable reach beyond the store estate and aligns with the retailer's unified commerce model.
