The Return Play

Firehouse Subs, the Jacksonville-founded quick-service sandwich chain owned by Restaurant Brands International, is re-launching its Thanksgiving Turkey Sub at participating locations nationwide, running through the end of December while supplies last. The SKU sold out across the system in 2025, and the brand is using that consumer signal to justify an extended promotional window this holiday cycle.

The sandwich layers carved turkey breast, warm stuffing, cranberry sauce and mayo on a toasted white or wheat roll. An optional turkey gravy side — described by the brand as carrying garlic, roasted turkey and vegetable stock notes — is positioned as an upsell. The new Pecan Bar, baked fresh daily in-restaurant and finished with toasted pecans and caramel, rounds out a deliberate Thanksgiving-themed bundle alongside a Dr Pepper beverage tie-in, a nod to the brand's ongoing QSR beverage cross-promotional strategy.

Operator & System Context

For franchisees, the return of a proven limited-time offer carries lower menu-development risk than a new launch, while still driving incremental traffic during the competitive Q4 holiday window. Last year's sellout outcome functions as built-in demand validation — a dynamic that QSR operators across the fast-casual and sandwich segments have increasingly leaned on to justify LTO re-runs rather than constant new-product churn.

Firehouse Subs sits within RBI's four-brand portfolio alongside Tim Hortons, Burger King and Popeyes. RBI reported nearly $47 billion in annual system-wide sales and operated more than 33,000 restaurants across 120-plus countries and territories as of December 31, 2025, giving Firehouse Subs significant franchisor infrastructure behind its seasonal marketing campaigns. Chief Marketing Officer Carolina Berti framed the extension in consumer-loyalty terms: "This year, we're giving fans even more time to enjoy it throughout the holiday season," she said.

Foundation Tie-In

Every purchase at Firehouse Subs routes a portion of proceeds to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, which has awarded more than $118 million in lifesaving equipment and resources to first responders and public safety organizations across North America since its inception. The philanthropic mechanism is a consistent brand differentiator in QSR cause-marketing positioning, and the Foundation's cumulative giving figure — now surpassing $118 million — provides a concrete data point operators can use in local marketing.

For the broader food and beverage industry, the Thanksgiving Turkey Sub relaunch reflects a wider pattern: chains are mining their LTO archives for sellout items rather than shouldering full R&D and supply-chain costs for net-new menu entries. With food input costs and labor pressures sustained across foodservice, the economics of proven re-runs versus experimental launches increasingly favor the former heading into 2027.
