The Appointment

Horizon Family Brands, the Broomfield, Colorado-based organic food group behind Horizon Organic, Maple Hill Creamery, and Wallaby Organic yogurt, has promoted Scott Wallace to Chief Customer Officer, the company announced Monday. Wallace, who joined the firm in November 2023 as vice president of sales and was elevated to senior vice president in 2025, will now hold executive responsibility for the company's entire customer-facing strategy across retail and commercial channels.

Scope of the Role

In the newly created CCO position, Wallace will work across sales, marketing, operations, and brand teams to drive customer engagement and identify shared-growth opportunities. The mandate spans omnichannel retail, wholesale, and distribution — segments in which Wallace has spent much of his career. Before joining Horizon Family Brands, he held commercial leadership roles at Danone, Kellogg Company, Viega LLC, and Procter & Gamble, giving him a track record in both large-scale consumer packaged goods and the natural and organic grocery channel that the company's three brands primarily serve.

CEO Tyler Holm credited Wallace's two-and-a-half years of internal performance as the driver of the promotion. "Since joining us in 2023, Scott has demonstrated a strong customer-first mindset, commercial leadership, and a commitment to bringing teams together around shared goals," Holm said. "His deep understanding of our categories, brands, teams, customers and channels will be invaluable as we continue building long-term growth for Horizon Family Brands."

Industry Context

The appointment reflects a broader pattern in the organic and wellness food segment, where mid-sized portfolio companies are investing in senior customer-leadership infrastructure to compete more effectively for shelf space and promotional support at major natural and conventional retailers. Organic dairy and yogurt remain among the higher-margin, faster-turning segments in the refrigerated aisle, but competition from private-label organic lines and larger CPG entrants has intensified pressure on brand-level commercial teams.

Wallace's background — which includes a degree in systems engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, an MBA from The University of Texas at Dallas, and a master's in organizational leadership from Gonzaga University — adds analytical depth to a role that increasingly relies on data-driven trade planning. His formative career as a U.S. Army officer, reaching the rank of captain in field artillery and military intelligence, rounds out a profile that Horizon Family Brands is positioning as equal parts relationship-oriented and analytically rigorous.

For operators and retailers evaluating organic dairy and yogurt category partnerships, the structural elevation of a CCO signals that Horizon Family Brands is prioritizing account management and long-term trade relationships at the executive level — a move consistent with the company's stated mission of building sustainable, shared growth with retail partners.
