Körber has launched STEPLogic Tracker, a supply-chain software solution aimed at helping food companies meet recordkeeping obligations under the FDA's Food Traceability Rule established in FSMA Section 204. The product targets operators who must demonstrate the ability to produce critical tracking records within a 24-hour window during a recall event.
The solution is designed to manage what the company describes as food genealogy — the chain of custody tied to receiving, transformation, and shipping at the lot level. According to Körber, the platform gives operations teams a more structured mechanism for capturing, managing, and retrieving traceability information that regulators may request during an enforcement or recall scenario.
FSMA 204 represents one of the most significant expansions of FDA traceability authority since the Food Safety Modernization Act was signed into law in 2011. The rule places additional recordkeeping requirements on companies that handle foods on the FDA's Food Traceability List, a roster of higher-risk commodities that includes leafy greens, shell eggs, nut butters, and fresh-cut fruits and vegetables. Non-compliance carries the potential for product seizure and injunctive action. Industry consultants have noted that many mid-size food manufacturers and distributors remain underprepared as enforcement timelines have been debated, making purpose-built compliance tooling increasingly relevant. Körber positioned STEPLogic Tracker as a practical, operations-oriented tool rather than a broad enterprise platform, a framing consistent with growing demand from food companies seeking targeted compliance solutions without lengthy implementation cycles. The company did not disclose pricing, customer commitments, or a specific revenue target associated with the launch.
