The Appointment

Keurig Dr Pepper (NASDAQ: KDP) has named Russ Torres as Chief Executive Officer of the future Global Coffee Co., the stand-alone coffee entity the beverage conglomerate plans to spin off in early 2027. Torres, currently President and Chief Operating Officer of Kimberly-Clark Corporation (NYSE: KMB), will join KDP on November 3, 2026, and will report to KDP CEO Tim Cofer until separation.

Scale of the Spinoff

Upon separation, Global Coffee Co. is projected to generate approximately $16 billion in annual revenue, employ more than 25,000 people, and operate in more than 100 markets. The portfolio spans single-serve systems, roast and ground, whole bean, soluble, ready-to-drink, and away-from-home formats under brands including Keurig, Peet's, L'OR, Jacobs, and Green Mountain Coffee Roasters — assembled in part through KDP's acquisition of JDE Peet's. Torres will also join the future Global Coffee Co. board of directors at separation, while Cofer transitions to CEO of the remaining Beverage Co.

The executive hire resolves one of the more consequential talent questions hanging over the demerger process. KDP had flagged its ability to retain and recruit key executives for each post-separation entity as a material risk in its forward-looking disclosures. With Torres slotted in, the company now has named leadership for both successor businesses ahead of the targeted split.

Torres's Background

Torres brings roughly three decades of consumer-goods experience. At Kimberly-Clark, he oversaw operations in more than 30 countries as President and COO. Before that, he served as the company's Group President of North America. Earlier roles included senior positions at Newell Brands, Bain & Company, and Mondelēz International — the latter giving him direct exposure to large-scale international food and beverage portfolio management. He holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a bachelor's degree in physics from Dartmouth College.

KDP Board Chairman Pamela Patsley, who will chair the future Global Coffee Co. board, said the company conducted a rigorous global search before selecting Torres. "Russ emerged as the clear choice," she said, citing his brand-building experience and track record guiding organizations through complex change. Cofer added that integration and deleveraging work related to the JDE Peet's acquisition is progressing on plan, giving Torres time to engage teams and shape strategy before the formal separation occurs.

What's Next

Torres will oversee the integration of KDP's and JDE Peet's coffee operations during his pre-separation tenure as head of the Coffee Operating Unit — a task that spans manufacturing, commercial, and supply-chain alignment across a multinational footprint. The coffee category's relative resilience, even amid broader consumer-spending pressure across the food and beverage sector, makes the spinoff an attractive vehicle for investors seeking pure-play exposure to global hot-beverage demand.

The announcement positions Global Coffee Co. as a direct competitor to Nestlé's Nespresso and Nescafé businesses on the premium and single-serve end, and to JAB Holding's remaining coffee assets on the roast-and-ground side. For KDP, completing the separation would sharpen the remaining Beverage Co.'s focus on North American refreshment drinks — a strategic reshaping consistent with portfolio rationalization trends seen across large beverage groups.
