The Menu Move

P.F. Chang's launched its "Autumn in Kyoto" limited-time menu on September 16, 2026, adding duck, Wagyu beef, and a matcha-forward cocktail program to participating locations across its more than 300-restaurant global network. The promotion runs through November 3, 2026 — a seven-week window timed to peak fall dining traffic, when casual chains typically see upticks in check averages driven by premium seasonal additions.

The New Offerings

The LTO introduces two duck formats new to the chain's menu: Duck Wings tossed in teriyaki sauce with Fresno peppers, toasted sesame and scallions; and Duck Fried Rice built with shredded duck, edamame, kimchi, chili jam, chili-spiced butter and a fried egg. Both represent a meaningful ingredient-cost step-up from the chain's core protein mix. Rounding out the food additions are Wagyu Egg Rolls — crispy rolls filled with Wagyu beef, black pepper, garlic, ginger and julienned vegetables, finished with black garlic aioli — alongside the returning Sushi Boat shareable platter. Premium proteins such as duck and Wagyu have become a recurring tool for casual-dining operators looking to lift per-person averages without broadening the permanent menu footprint, a strategy that also limits procurement risk to the promotional window.

Bar Program and Brand Partnership

On the beverage side, P.F. Chang's is among the first national restaurant brands to carry YOSHI Matcha Liqueur, described as the first matcha liqueur to market and crafted with ceremonial-grade matcha. The chain will feature a Matcha Martini — blending RumChata, YOSHI Matcha Liqueur, cream of coconut and cinnamon — alongside the Kyoto Cabin, a new cocktail combining Woodford Reserve Bourbon, black tea, maple and lemon. Branded spirit partnerships have gained traction across full-service casual dining as operators seek incremental bar revenue and co-marketing exposure; for an emerging spirits brand, placement across a 300-plus-unit chain provides national on-premise visibility that is difficult to replicate through traditional retail channels.

"Autumn gives us the opportunity to work with deeper, richer flavors and ingredients that feel especially craveable this time of year," said Steve Solis, Vice President of Culinary at P.F. Chang's. "We challenged ourselves to reimagine familiar P.F. Chang's favorites through unexpected seasonal pairings."

Charitable Tie-In

The promotion includes a cause-marketing component tied to Starlight Children's Foundation. Diners can round up their check via Round It Up America or purchase a $10 limited-edition horse plush called Bao; each plush sold triggers a donation of a second plush to a child through Starlight. Buy-one-give-one charity activations have become a reliable traffic driver for casual-dining brands during the fall and holiday period, adding a values dimension to what is otherwise a promotional menu cycle. For operators tracking the casual-dining LTO playbook, the Autumn in Kyoto push reflects a broader industry shift toward shorter, more curated promotional windows anchored by premium ingredients rather than deep discounting. Chains competing for the same occasion-dining dollar — particularly in Asian-influenced casual dining — have increasingly leaned on cultural storytelling and ingredient provenance as differentiators, a trend also evident in recent seasonal menu rollouts across the foodservice sector.
