The Pivot
TruHeight Vitamins is moving beyond the supplement shelf. The Las Vegas-based family nutrition brand announced July 31 the launch of Protein Energy Waffles — its first functional food product — marking a deliberate pivot from a vitamins-and-supplements model to a broader functional nutrition platform targeting active kids, teens, and family consumers.
Each serving of the new waffles delivers protein and 7 grams of dietary fiber, positioned by the company for pre- and post-activity consumption during school days, practices, and competition. The product is the first in what TruHeight describes as an active innovation pipeline spanning performance, recovery, cognitive wellness, and everyday family health formats.
Retail Reach and Category Tailwinds
TruHeight has built meaningful retail distribution before attempting the category extension. The brand currently sits in approximately 5,000 CVS locations alongside placements at Target and Nordstrom Marketplace, with additional volume through major online retailers. That shelf footprint gives the functional food line an immediate path to consumers without the distribution ramp-up that constrains many emerging brands.
The launch lands against a measurable consumer shift toward fiber and functional foods. Google Trends data cited by the company shows searches for "fibermaxxing" rose 115% over a 90-day window ending mid-2026, with broader dietary fiber queries reaching record levels this year. The functional food segment has attracted sustained investment from both legacy food manufacturers and digitally native brands as consumers increasingly demand products that deliver benefits beyond basic macronutrition — a trend well documented in recent consumer-packaged-goods coverage across the F&B sector.
"Families don't just want another supplement," said Justin Rapoport, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of TruHeight. "They want functional products their kids will actually enjoy eating and that fit naturally into school, sports, and everyday life. The Protein Energy Waffle is the first step in building that broader platform."
Youth Sports as a Demand Catalyst
TruHeight is timing the launch to a documented spike in youth athletic participation. The Sports & Fitness Industry Association reports outdoor soccer participation rose nearly 16% year over year heading into the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with U.S. Soccer projecting total domestic participation could reach 29 million players by year-end. That enrollment surge translates directly into demand for convenient, performance-oriented nutrition among the school-age demographic TruHeight has built its brand around.
Co-Founder and Co-CEO Eden Stelmach framed the moment in terms of consumer behavior rather than pure event marketing. "Parents have become much more engaged in understanding what goes into the products they give their kids," Stelmach said. "Families are asking better questions, reading labels more carefully, and looking for brands they believe are acting in their best interest."
The competitive landscape in family-focused functional nutrition is intensifying. Established sports nutrition companies have expanded children's lines, and several better-for-you snack brands have moved into protein and fiber-fortified formats over the past 18 months. TruHeight's wager is that a brand built explicitly around healthy growth and development — rather than retrofitted from an adult sports nutrition origin — can command loyalty in this segment. The company says product development will continue across multiple functional categories, with an emphasis on transparent labeling and formulations it describes as appropriate for everyday family use rather than elite athletic performance.
