Vive Crop Protection has secured federal registration from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for Bifender® Duo, a hybrid soil insecticide that pairs a proven synthetic active — bifenthrin — with a biological ingredient developed by ProFarm. The approval, announced September 23, gives growers a single-jug solution addressing both soil insects and nematodes, a pest complex that causes significant yield losses across row crops and vegetables. The product is classified as a Restricted Use Pesticide.
The biological component in Bifender Duo was itself registered by the EPA as a new active ingredient in 2025. Vive developed the combined formulation in partnership with ProFarm, refining the blend through its proprietary Precision Chemistry™ Technology — marketed under the Allosperse® Delivery System — to achieve commercial-scale stability. The two-mode-of-action structure is significant in a regulatory environment increasingly focused on resistance management, as soil insect populations in key commodity crops have shown mounting pressure on single-chemistry programmes.

The sequencing matters commercially: state-level registration timelines often dictate whether a new crop-protection product can be sold in time for agronomic planning windows that begin as early as Q4 of the preceding year.
The launch fits within a broader industry shift toward so-called biointegrated or hybrid crop protection, where biological and synthetic chemistries are combined at the formulation stage rather than mixed by the grower at point of application.
