Keurig Dr Pepper (Nasdaq: KDP) posted second-quarter net sales of $7.3 billion, a 75.6% increase from $4.2 billion in the year-ago period, as the April 1 consolidation of the JDE Peet's acquisition added $2.8 billion in wholly incremental revenue. Excluding that contribution, legacy KDP net sales rose 7.3%, driven by net price realization of 4.2% and volume/mix growth of 3.1%.

The Numbers

On an adjusted basis, operating income advanced 42.9% to $1.5 billion, representing a 20.2% adjusted operating margin. GAAP operating income fell 30.1% to $628 million, weighed down by acquisition and integration-related costs, including a $314 million inventory step-up charge tied to the JDE Peet's deal. Adjusted diluted EPS rose 16.3% to $0.57, outpacing internal expectations according to the company. GAAP diluted EPS of $0.04 reflected $82 million allocated to preferred investors — a new capital structure feature arising from the JDE Peet's financing. Second-quarter operating cash flow reached $895 million, with free cash flow of $714 million.

The U.S. Refreshment Beverages segment delivered the strongest organic performance, with net sales up 10.0% to $2.9 billion on volume/mix gains of 6.5% and price realization of 3.5%. Adjusted operating income for the segment climbed 11.9% to $874 million, sustaining a 29.9% adjusted operating margin — the highest in the KDP portfolio. Operators and retailers tracking CSD and still-beverage category performance should note that branded carbonated soft drinks, water, and mixer lines all contributed to the growth; the non-alcoholic beverage market has continued to benefit from resilient consumer spending on at-home and convenience-channel purchases.

Coffee Segment Divergence

The U.S. Coffee segment remains a contrasting story. Net sales declined 3.2% to $918 million, with volume/mix down 8.2% — partly a statistical artifact of Peet's K-Cup pods shifting into the JDE Peet's reporting segment — offset by 5.0% price realization. Adjusted operating income fell 24.7% to $225 million, as inflation, higher marketing costs, and the pod reclassification squeezed the margin to 24.5% from 31.5% a year earlier. The single-serve brewing category has faced pressure across the foodservice and at-home channels as consumers trade around premium pod price points. The newly consolidated JDE Peet's segment, spanning more than 100 global markets and housing brands including Peet's, L'OR, and Jacobs, generated $2.8 billion in net sales and $414 million in adjusted operating income at a 14.8% adjusted margin in its first full quarter of KDP ownership.

KDP International also contributed positively, with constant-currency net sales rising 12.4%, led by 6.5% volume/mix gains. Adjusted operating income was flat year-over-year at $155 million on a constant-currency basis, as cost pressures — including Mexico's beverage tax — and marketing investments offset the sales lift. For broader context on how beverage taxes and regulatory costs are reshaping international foodservice and packaged-goods margins, the Mexico headwind underscores the complexity of KDP's emerging-market exposure post-acquisition.

Guidance and Separation Path

For full-year 2026, Keurig Dr Pepper maintained guidance for net sales of $25.9–$26.4 billion and constant-currency adjusted diluted EPS growth in a low-double-digit range. The guidance incorporates 4–6% constant-currency net sales and EPS growth for the legacy business plus the JDE Peet's increment. At current exchange rates, foreign currency translation is expected to provide approximately a one-percentage-point tailwind to both metrics. The company targets a pro-forma management leverage ratio of approximately 4.1x at year-end 2026, down from 4.4x as of June 30, 2026. CEO Tim Cofer framed the midyear position as on-track for both the 2026 financial commitments and a planned separation of the beverage and coffee portfolios into two independent companies in early 2027.
